I may watch it someday if it's on while I am flipping through channels; that's about it. Then again, I just watched a movie in which Paris Hilton gets impaled through the head (House of Wax) so you know, my cinematic tastes are nothing to copy :)

A guy gets a pretty wicked bite in one scene, I hear

... from a spider ball python. Not a normal or even a pastel. A spider!!
I don't really know how bad of an impact this will have on people, either. I'm pretty sure everyone seeing it will realize the movie is totally unrealistic in that the rest of the movie outside of the snakes is still ridiculous. If it was some serious global terror flick I wouln't be so cool with it, but this movie is unbridled silliness for the most part.
So far the worst Snakes on a Plane has caused is this:
"Yeah, I have a pet snake, he's a ball python blah blah blah"
"Oh! Has it been..... ON A PLAAAAANE?!?!?!?!"
"Yes, actually. It has." All the time!

I'm going to it tonight with a bunch of people, I've been really excited for it for awhile. It's supposed to be stupid - that's the best part :D
I also like rocky horror picture show though, and I have a ton of friends who hate that too.

Here's a pic of me and my husband at a live RHPS. I've passed on the love to my daughter, and am looking for a live show to take her to as well!

I can beat that (cheap) try $5.75 for shows between 4 and 6 pm. That's where I'll be tomorrow! I'm dragging my sister to it. LOL Funny story about the trailer though (preview on TV) My 2 year old niece saw the ad for Snakes on a Plane, and she yelled out "There's Pepino" (that's my corn's name) Very cute. Give her 14 years or so, I'm sure she'll be on the forums by then. Wait till she sees my BP (I get him Monday)

Your theater is how much? Damn I have to pay $12.50 to get in at my locals. The cheapest is like $11.00 if I drive thirty minutes. I agree with the bunch of you above I am NOT spending money I worked for on this BS.

All morning on the radio they were ranting and raving about Snakes on a Plane, ooh aah, they even had a contest on how long the radio DJ could keep a live snake in his underwear! That is where I got :irkd: , LEAVE the snakes out of this!

I am going to write them hate mail tomorrow morning. They had a local pet shop bring several non-venomous snakes into the studio and everyone was screaming and hollering. The bet was how long he could keep them in there without freaking out. The prize: Unlimited amount of tickets to the movie.

I love this negative publicity for our beloved snakey friends. Man I am P-O at them. They are normally a better station to listen to. Grrrrr.

It's my JOB to handle LIFE AND DEATH situations on a DAILY BASIS!
I've been so pumped with all of the online hype over this movie, I was there with a bunch of online friends avd it seemed like everyone else was there with theirs too. There was also a group of people sponsored by New Line Cinemas and they threw rubber snakes! We traded them like baseball cards :P
Anytime thre was a hilarious snake death, we'd wave our snakes in the air. Our arms got pretty tired!

This might sound ironic but Samuel Jackson took some pic's with a big albino burm and a big Colombian boa. Both were around his neck I saw these pic's in daytona one of the breeder's had them on display. I didn't get a chance to ask him if Sam was a fellow snake owner but it was cool. Ohhh yeah the movie will be a rental for me , it's not a movie theatre flic for me.

The movie itself looks funny and corny but I plan on seeing it. I hate it already just for the fact that My husband's grandma saw it and now she is like your snake is going to kill your child. There is salamanila (sp?) everywhere, that is why she is sick all the time (which btw she is not). She even said that now a 14ft bp ate a full grown man (haha) and that "its alot stronger than you think". I'm pretty sure that Yoshi is thinking about choking me to death everytime I hold him....yeah I am sure. She thinks this all because of THIS movie. Oh and because of everything she has read online. I could understand her concern if I had a full grown burm or a rattlesnake with the baby but I have BP and I see no danger, expecially when the baby doesn't have any contact with them.

sorry for the off topic rant.....

But yeah the movie looks funny but alot off people are going to be warded off snakes and thats sad.

Re: Who's going to see Snakes On A Plane?
Watched it today - it was terrible... so terrible that it was actually pretty funny. Everything about this moveis is so idiotic that it really shouldn't cause snakes too much bad press. If someone is really foolish enough for their opinion of snakes to be dictated by a movie like this then I'm not really sure that I care what their opinion is.

For those of you who have seen the movie: I thought one of the funniest lines was when someone questions Eddie Kim's (the villain) plan to fill the plane with poisonous snakes and he replies "don't you think I've exhausted all other options?".

Back on topic.... Did anyone read the interview in Reptile mag.?? They pushed the fact that they knew they were doing subs. on certin snakes,etc... and asked that the hobbiest out there not get turned off, or scream, "hey that's a corn snake"...& so on. Wow, I think your grandma totally missed the point. I don't see this happening ith a lot of people unless they go into the movie wanting to come out thinking badly of snakes. And mr~python - you can yell at the screen all you want because so does everyone else! Part of the point of the movie is that everyone should by now know that none of the snakes in the movie are actually like that. There was a lot of hooting and cheering when corn snakes were killing people, it's a hoot.

I liked seeing the African Rock Python though. He was very pretty :D

At first I thought the same thing as you....and thought that Hollywood was being prejuicide against reptiles....I still think that you'd never see "Ravenous canines on a plane"...snakes/reptiles are surely easy targets as mentioned previously

Then I thought maybe I'm being too serious...the movie isnt a documentary--its a grade B Horror flick....people who take this movie serious are likely already fairly scared of snakes.....so they just have a serious case of confirmation basis.

Alternatively, they might leave in a world of dreams.....after all there are people that believe that great movies like Star Wars are real. There are also people who think L. Ron Hubbard novels are real.

The ultimate result of this movie for the hobby is probably unkown....it could have no lasting effect or an overall positive or negative effect....who knows? There are certainly some negative things like this that will result form this movie.

But there could also be some positive things.....

For the people who are not terrified and just ignorant about snakes....the movie could serve as a springboard for education. Who knows if we'd have Shark week on the Discovery channel without "Jaws"? Maybe they'll put an educational feature on the DVD?

It not exactly a comparable stituation since no one keeps great whites in their house....plus Jaws is probably a better movie than this one :sunny:
