Watch your face and fingers...

All my girls are ridiculous feeders. I have to be pretty careful when opening the tubs on feeding days (or any other days) as they are always lunging out at my face. This is from tonight's feeding.

Hmmm maybe one of our construction/design whizs around here can design the first ever "frozen/thawed rat feeding catapult" for you Jamie (or would that be a ratapult????)

Yeah, can't complain about good eaters with these guys... maybe their mama forgot to tell them that proper young ladies don't lunge for their food ;)

He isnt slow ;) mine are the same way, if I dont dangle the rat over the tub as im opening it, they come out and strike at me, repeatedly, until they are half hanging out of the tub. They may only be 3-4 feet and a 3lbs, but the racks that are eye level, it can be an adventure :)

Every week its an adventure with the girls and the big BCI. With her its a race to get the rats thrown in on the floor of the cage before she senses them and comes at me...

I hear that, my female boa is just crazy since she dropped that litter. As soon as the door moves she starts flying across the cage and in strike mode!! I should time myself, I might be breaking world records for the "Open -Toss - Close"!!! LOL!!!

yeah i had that last week when i fed Monty some pinkies. (could get anything else and i wanted him to eat)

the first one puzzled him but he ate it regularly (constrict then swallow)after he bascily snatched it outa my hands

the second one he let land on the floor, circled it completely, then just slowly grabbed it by the haunches and swallowed it without a strike or nuthin'

the 3rd one he tried to do the same thing again, but the little critter fought back (then agin it was a rat pinkie not much of a fight) so he ended up constricting it with like the low end of his neck (one coil and it more or less disapeared) and the swallowed it

Why don't my females eat like that? :( Only one does. The males will hit me in the chest when they lauch at the food. They smell it across the room and fly out as soon as the tub to slides open.

Casey makes some great racks but IMO they don't compare to a professional breeder's quality rack like a Freedom, Kreature Keeper or ARS. These rock!

I hate coming in late on a cool thread like this. Great pictures, Jamie! I always seem to get one or two hanging out like that during a feed. I don't know if you just let them go in on their own, but I usually end up picking them up and tucking them into their cages. They don't seem to mind and will just constrict a little tighter. Maybe they think the rat is still alive or something is trying to take their meal away?

Oh, and for an extra thrill... try to train them to give you a smooch before you give them their meal. ;)

I sometimes put them back in and sometimes wait until they are done. With Balls you can do that, but dont try it with Boas! :)

Looks interesting - like something with cream cheese inside (I'm probably wildly wrong here). One GREAT thing (food-wise) to come across from you guys to us is KRISPY KREEM!! Apparently we had one in London for a while but we now got one in Oxford too :D

They have a whip cream like substance in them. Very unhealthy but sugary good! We have Krispy Kreme here as well. They are awesome.
