What type of enclosures do you use?
I thought this might be an interesting poll.
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you have?
Have as in own and not in use, or what I'm actually using?

Re: What type of enclosures do you have?
What you are actually keeping your snakes in :) I could have been a little more specific so...i changed it to "What type of enclosures do you use?"
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you have?
3 sterilite tubs of different sizes for those who are too small for the rack tubs and in quarantine. 1 rack system that was made by dragons4you out of florida--i counted this as homemade since he makes them in his shop. 1 rack system made by barrs.
good thing you specified what is actually in use, otherwise i'd have voted for all of them except the wood enclosure. :P

Re: What type of enclosures do you have?
I moved this to general herp...since so many of us keep more than bps and the question is kinda general :)
-

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I've got one glass tank...with one bp in it. (This is the tank I raised my first snake in). I have one ball room boaphile rack full of balls. The rest of the pythons all live in plastic tubs...and in the case of the black blood, it's one really BIG tub :D

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
Well, I voted for Glass Aquarium, AND, even though I don't have it yet, but have paid for it and owned it for a little over a month now, I voted Manufactured Rack..... someday, I hope to SEE it too!

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?

I voted for "Other" as I think I have used every possible creation under the sun to house an animal, even temporarily.

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
As a side-note to this post, I just talked to Jeff @ Boaphile, and it's on the truck on the way here right now, should get it tomorrow according to the FedEx site. Ok, now I'm getting giddy. :)

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
making a homemade rack is not hard...just think of it as building a shelfing unit or book case even. You need 2 sides, a back, and some shelves. You'll need to space out the shelves according to your tub preference and support the shelves inbetween the two sides...doesn't have to be fancey :P
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I've got my BP housed in a really well made wooden enclosure. I'll post some pics somewhere, but I want to get some with Olaf walking (I taught him how to walk so he wouldn't need to slither as often) around in his palace.
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
Yes daniel please post your rack set up plans. i really like your rack
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
ha ha....i dont really have any plans....i just kinda bought some wood, tubs, and heating equipment and put it together.....it is not a complicated design....right now, i can upload some more pictures so that you can see how it is put together a little better...this week is finals week so that is all i can do for now...i have an exam tomorrow morning at 8 am ;)
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I just uploaded two pics to the photos/enclosure section of my site.....it gives the idea of what i did...if you can wait until this weekend...i can take some measurements...

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
Looks quite easy. I may make something similar but with the heat tape on the back...i must think
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
snunior, not to get off topic but you may want to reconsider using flexwatt from the back. In another topic I talked about setting up my first homemade rack with "back heat". It just didn't do it for ambient tub temps...I have since changed to belly heat for each shelf in the rack and its MUCH better for stable temps without having to crank the tstat on the flexwatt.

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
Currently I have Mr. Bojangles housed in a screen-topped glass aquarium, but will transfer him over to a Sterilite enclosure later on this week thanks to some helpful advice and input from various users here. It should be much easier to control the climate this way, and on the bright side, I can use the aquarium to get some frogs or geckos that I've been wanting for a while :D
I'm sure that my room will be full of tanks within the next few months - raising these little buggers is quite addicting and fun! I'd really like to get into breeding eventually.

Good choice.
I house six boas in a rack setup that I just finished and I house two beards in their own 29g tall and I also house three cresties in a 55g octagon. I also keep two balls in their own 20g longs.

I've upgraded everyone to sterilite 1986's 40q's.Except my Dumeral boa she's in a 75 gallon aquarium , she might stay there cause of potential size.

-
Re: What type of enclosures do you use?

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
All of my animals are kept in glass enclosures, but I would much rather have a rack, which I plan on investing in ASAP.
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
i house my ackie in a 20gal aquarium, soon to be a huge 5 foot long x 1.5 foot wide x 2 foot high aquarium that i got as a freebie, and i keep my ball pythons in a homemade rack with CB-70 tubs.
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
glass tanks. anywhere from 20L - 75 gallons. and a homemade wooden enclosure
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you have?
I use 10g and 20g castoff aquariums. I like the fact that babies can't fall out and adults can't chew out.
EDIT: LOL; when I posted, I thought this was in the feeders section; I guess this is regarding snakes, not rats! (you know how those baby BPs can chew outta the bars of cages, riight?)
For my snakes, it's all glass aquariums; my BCI has a custom made glass cage w/ doors infront.

Rubbermaid tub with newspaper. Sooo much easier to maintain and clean than the tank I had previously.
