Disco Mojave? Could be......
Hey guys, I haven't posted here in a while, and for the life of me, I don't know why I didn't post this girls pic here, but better late than never. Back story to this baby: I bred my Mojo girl Bella to my (what I believed to be at the time) Fire male Dante multiple times, and just once with a confirmed breeder Fire male. Eight eggs total, and I end up with two Mojo's, four Normals, and these two pictured. You'll agree that the first one looks nothing like what a Fire Mojo should look like. Well, after seeing what the Disco ball does to the Fire genes, and considering how similar Disco's look like Fires, I'd be willing to bet that Dante is actually a Disco, and not a Fire. I've gotten opinions from Ted Thompson and Joe Ellis that the dad Dante does look alot like a Disco, but it's hard to tell. Add to the mystery, I haven't been able to track down the hatching records for him (but I've got my top man on the job :) ).
I know that Joe is working with more Disco combos, I think I'll have to wait until he (or someone) reproduces a Disco/Mojo and compare it with my girl to be able to say definitively that that's what she is.
Tell me what you think?
Here's the special little girl:

...and here's the entire clutch:

...and here is one of her siblings, this girl I suspect is a Disco, but I'm just not sure:

I think she looks promising! :gj
I just got into looking at what discos can do and they sure make some smoking combos!

She is a hot little thing! I think she looks like a fire mojo (similar to the one of WOB in my opinion) with a little bit of wackiness in the pattern but I am not familiar with the disco gene so my opinion is not too important. Maybe someone else on here can help? Either way she is a pretty little thing...

:O
The colors on that baby are outrageous! She's gorgeous, whatever she is ...
I can't offer much help re: disco versus fire, as I don't currently even own either morph ... Though I will say, mom is such an impressive-looking, blushed-out mojave -- I wonder if it could be at least partially her influence that's making that baby's colors so intense?
Did you produce the sire yourself and if so, was his (fire) sire from a proven line?

It's a real puzzler. Mom is certainly blushed out to the extreme, pretty much all of her babies show a high level of the lightness. It's surely possible that it is having an influence.
I purchased the sire from Matt Jackson, who got him from Gary Ricks, who in turn got him from Priceless Pythons. As you can guess, it's not easy tracking down his lineage. This was the first year he's bred though.
Thanks for the comps all, she's definitely a keeper, no matter what she turns out to be.

Is there really a question about the first snake pictured being a 2 gene animal?
Congrats! Sweet combo!

Nope, no question about it being a two gene, it's whether it's a Disco/Mojo or a wacked out Fire/Mojo :D
Thanks!

First time I've heard of a Disco, but, that baby is smokin'. Congrats!

Very cool!!! I love how it looks :)

Really nice. Ive only seen a few disco combos but have loved them. Especially disco fires.
-
find a female vanilla to test that theory?
-
Re: Disco Mojave? Could be......
It almost looks like she's a really low-white pied/ringer(?)
Beautiful!:)

Now THERE is a great idea.

Does disco create 'ringers'? She really looks like a ringer to me. Are you sure that the disco gene is involved? Is it possible that one of your two animals is het piebald?

The Disco/Fires do have what seems to be multiple ringers, that's what leads me to think that's what's happening here. I'm not 100% sure though, that's why I have to wait to see if someone can duplicate it with a confirmed Disco and a Mojo.
I suppose it is possible that one could be a het pied, but neither of the parents were bought as such.
Exciting and frustrating at the same time, right?

That's one sexy lady right there :gj:

wicked!
Thanks for sharing!

Re: Disco Mojave? Could be......
Some new pics of her after her second shed. I put her in a light box I just built (and I've come to the conclusion I need to add light to the sides, shadows are appearing  ).

I can't help you with the mojave disco vs. mojave fire question, but that snake sure is gorgeous!

Re: Disco Mojave? Could be......
I haven't seen a lot of Fire Mojaves except for the ones on WOBP but having seen how the Disco gene changes pattern in the Disco Creams I would say yours is a Disco Mojave. I hope you don’t mind but I did a Levels and a Shadows adjustment on one of your photos in Photoshop so I could see what it really looked like and I am posting that picture. That is an incredible looking animal and I will be doing that breeding this next season.

That's exactly what I was thinking as well, the Disco had a very similar effect to the Fire gene too.
Don't mind the assist at all Albey, I appreciate it (my additional lightstands should be in this week so I can take some better pics). It's a slight bummer that it's a she instead of a he, but ONLY slight :D

Super cool combo, I sure hope that is the outcome of Disco and Mojave. . . .
Here's what I came home to yesterday

That's our male Disco and our Mojave girl getting frisky!!
Hopefully I'll be able to hatch out something like you've got there and we will have a little more info on this combo!
Thanks for posting your pics!!

Cute hatchlings.
I am a bit jealous of your final pic though. The blushing and headstamp look amazing on that snake.

That Mojo is beautiful. Good luck on that pairing. I am interested in the results. Keep us posted.

Re: Disco Mojave? Could be......
Could it have been an incubation issue that is causing the weird pattern? The only reason I say that is because the discos I have seen have all had reduced pattern and the sibling that you posted a picture of had lots of pattern. I would breed that male to a fire female and see if you get a disco cream or a super fire.

It's not outside the realm of possibility, but I doubt it, I incubated 6 clutches in the 'bator that season without any anomolies showing up. I'll definitely be doing what you suggest next season though, this year my Fire female is being paired with another Fire (c'mon BlkEL's! :D )

Re: Disco Mojave? Could be......
sweet looking animal you have there...........just thought i would share the mojave fire i produced this last season as another reference..

Disco Mojave? Could be......
Looks a lot similar to the epic gene stuff I made this year with Mojave combos. Maybe your Mojave has epic gene in it. Just a thought. I'd lean more towards a third subtle gene than disco. Cool snake!
-
Whatever the heck is going on with Halle, can you please be sure to breed that male to the same ma again next season? Mojos aren't really a morph I think much of, but now I want one like her 8D And make sure dad gets some action with some interesting ladies, please??? LOL, I think you'll have plenty open homes for babies if they make anything interesting next year!! And of course: Congrats, she is gorgeous!

At first I thought that was possible, but she's never produced anything like the Epic ball in her previous clutches, just Mojo's, Jigsaws, and Normals.

Oh they've been at it for some time now, and I think she's building as we speak :D

First Look
They're hatching! At least four lookalikes to Halle, I'll have a better look when they're all out tomorrow.

Awesome! Man I wish I was a nurse already so I could purchase a hatchling. She's one awesome looking snake. Congrats!

Re: Disco Mojave? Could be......
All out. I'm still leaning towards the sire being a Disco, but without someone reproducing with a confirmed Disco, I still can't say for sure. Ted Thompson has eggs in the incubator with this combo (along with some other genes), my fingers are crossed.

Well, after conferring with my new friend EJ Walsh (who produced a Hypo Disco Mojo and some Pastave Disco's this year), Ted Thompson, Albey Scholle, and Brad Boa, I'm confirming that these are indeed Disco Mojaves. Takes quite a load off my mind finally knowing for sure!

John after seeing all of yours I am hoping this breeding of a Disco Male to a Pastel Mojave takes! I want some as killer as yours in my racks.
