Post your normal bp beauties! DUW?
Hey guys! Now, we all love the beautiful ball python morphs out there... But most of us started with the natural beauties that are normal ball pythons!!
There are a lot of new users here who do not realize how different normals can be..So a lot of them will question whether or not they have a normal or a morph--this post will help those who are confused about their snake by showing how dark, bright, yellow, or weird normals can be without being any particular morph! :)
Post your babies all the way up to your biggest big girls! :D It would be so cool to see how different and cool all the regular bps can be...Feel free to write a little blurb about your snake, but you don't have to! :)
I'll start. This is my only ball python, and she's a beautiful normal! She was our first snake, and we got her before we really knew much about reptiles, so we got her as a yearling from a little flea market in a ten gallon with about 40 other ball pythons. :rolleye2: if only we had known! She came to us with tics all over her body, and didn't eat for months when we first took her home. But after all the tics and parasites were gone she started pounding away rats like nobody's business! She's now grown a foot since we got her and has been healthy since! She was definitely a 'wake up call' that you need to research who you buy from with animals! :colbert: We have not made that mistake since then.

Re: Post your normal bp beauties! DUW?
This was my first and only Ball Python "Damien", I no longer have him but miss him dearly. :( Still thinking of getting another eventually...
I got him from a lady who simply no longer wanted him. She had him for 6 years and his owner before her had him for a couple so he had to be at least 8 or 9 years old. I brought him home, took 4 layers of eye caps off of him and was never able to get the last layer off. Thankfully he did not come with mites or ticks.

Re: Post your normal bp beauties! DUW?
This is the one that started it all for me. Named Osiris, before i knew she was a female, and now affectionately called " Big Mama". She recently tipped the scales at 1238g. I think that the "normal" needs to be replaced with something a litte better like "natural" maybe?

Wow! I'm already seeing some cool cool different looking snakes! I agree, the name 'Natural' or something like that would be a much better description of these lovely ball pythons!

:O Uhh..hamsters?! I hope you'll be ready to pay for hamsters every feeding if your ball python gets hooked on them!! Those guys are expensive!

Re: Post your normal bp beauties! DUW?
Awwh, love the pics, guys! Normal balls are so terribly underappreciated for their wild beauty.
Here are my not-so-normal girls whom I wouldn't trade for the most expensive funky-colored snake out there. :)
My big gal Cu, the one who started this whole snake craze, and quite honestly the single sweetest snake this earth has seen. (No offense to the other friendly bp's out there, but there's no snake sweeter than Cu!)

And the elegant Miss Prospekt, who likes to look tough but is actually a big baby.

man dont give her hamster, not because of price, but because its skull is to hard to digest, and also they are said to be adictive.

Here's a Picture of Clarabelle, my normal female.

The picture is too big to post on here. It's basically a bigger picture of my profile avatar.

Re: Post your normal bp beauties! DUW?
This is Tambora. He'a an '08 male I picked up at a show I was working at last year. I saw him the first morning before the doors opened and told the vendor that if he wasn't sold by the end of the show that I would take him. So Sunday evening he became mine. I'm glad nobody else liked him :)

She looked a little different to me also, but I didn't have a clue what she looked like....

Good job, he's looking much better. You might want to get the duct tape out of his cage though. They can get stuck to it if it comes loose.

It is duct tape, I've checked it every day ( because I have read about scales being torn off on it) and none of the "sticky side" is exposed, so I thought it would be fine if I kept a close eye on it. If not I'll take it out, I would just feel bad because he absolutely loves climbing across it.
Only reason I put the duct tape around this piece of wood is because the wood is painted and treated.

And thank you! He's on a 5day feeding schedule, such a great eater for me. (Though the owner I took him from said he was "picky" and hardly ate.)
I'm very happy with how he's changed.

When I first saw her I just loved how dark she is, then after compairing some pics I thought she could be a het red as well. After about 2 months she was still at the store so I went ahead and brought her home because I just couldn't stop thinking about her and we can always make room for a female whether she is a het red or just dark and yummy.
Paid $90 for her:gj:

I would DEF take it out. Take a lesson from me. I had one TINY ( about 3x3 inches) piece used to hold my thermometer wire to the back of the tank, behind the thermometer, well hidden. I checked it everyday, a few times a day. However, one night, the heat from my heat lamp loosened it and I awoke to find my BP stuck fast to the glass on her underjaw, where sticky residue was left behind when the duct tape came off. Scared the heck out of me but I am sure not near as much as her! Thankfully, some olive oil on a Qtip , lots of patience and about an hour later, I got her free!
No matter how secure you feel the tape is, I would lose it and save yourself and the snake a really scary time!
And....BEAUTIFUL SNAKE by the way!!!!!

Re: Post your normal bp beauties! DUW?
I love my normal BPs! :) I currently have 5 normal girls & 1 adorable little boy... also a pair of het albinos, if those count as normals. Anyway, here they are:
Snug, the only normal boy... just a 'lil guy at barely 100g (runt & slow starter), but he has the biggest personality!
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...4/P1050027.jpg
Nerissa, my ultra-light gal...
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...4/P1040807.jpg
Ophelia, one of the babies I produced last summer.
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...4/P1040587.jpg
I love her neck stripe!
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...3/P1020651.jpg
Phoebe, another of the 2010 babies.
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...3/P1020212.jpg
Mona - mom to the above babies, shortly before laying (7 eggs).
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...3/DSCN2431.jpg
Delilah, my very first snake!
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...3/P1020721.jpg
Don't know if hets count as "normals," but I have to share this guy... Orlando, my het albino male w/ reduced pattern.

Re: Post your normal bp beauties! DUW?

Sure, non visual hets can count as normals in this thread, why not! I know some have their own funky traits that can be caused by the het--but of course as long as people know that their snake might not be a het just because it happens to look like someone's het, that's fine!
I think anyone who was confused before can see this thread and have their eyes opened! Normals have their own world of variations and contrasts naturally without any help from us humans!

Here is our beautiful snake. She is about 4 months old now. I'm not sure why it looks like there is some blueing on her nose, she just finshed her shed 2 days ago.

Here's one of my dinker normals. She laid a clutch of slugs last season unfortunately (2009-2010), but hopefully she can give it another go next winter. More normals later :).
