Poll: Would you use a ball-python.net App on your iPhone/iPod Touch if it was created
I would find it very convenient to have a BP.net App on my iPhone. I would use it for multiple purposes including: uploading pictures faster, checking my new forums that I create, looking at newly published threads, and browsing through random forums during the day while I'm at work. It would be infinitly more convenient to pull my phone out of my pocket to find information related to my favorite reptiles than to always look for the nearest computer. Tell me what you think!

Seems a better approach would be creating a mobile web frontend to the site. Most smartphones these days have some kind of webkit based browser, so it would be much more accessible and cross platform that way. Since bp.net is powered by vBulletin, a quick search brought up this mobile theme that could be used...

With the iPhone, you can already do that. Though it would be nice to have a mobi friendly template.

Ya I use my iPhone too. I just thought it would be more convenient to use an app instead of opening up safari and having to zoom in and out depending on what you are trying to look at. I don't know tho, I could be wrong.

Ya that definitely sounds more practical. I have to say, I would enjoy using a mobile page than the classic while using my iPhone. Great idea man.

Oh as do I. I'm on my iPhone right now too :) I just thought it would be more convenient since a lot of ppl on this site have an iPhone or iPod touch. I personally like the above guy's post about having a mobile version of this site. More people would be able to use it. You wouldn't have to have an iPhone or iPod touch.

I couldn't agree more. I think I have changed my stance on the issue. I would rather have a mobile template but if bp.net were to make an app, there is no way I would not get it :)

We have some new goodies coming along in the next upgrade.

Tapatalk has been requested numerous times. It's giving us some trouble on this current version of vB, so I'm hoping to roll it out when we upgrade.

Ok very cool! That will be awesome. Any idea on when that'll be? I'm not lookin for specifics. I know how these things work... Just a general idea.

No, I would just use the internet on my phone. This site works perfectly on my "phone internet". Although, it does double post sometimes-sorry mods!

I don't have anything fancy, LG Tritan. It's a USCellular phone.

Before my iphone got itself lost, I would always browse BP.net and other sites in moments of boredom.

An interesting app, I think, would be a care sheet/morph guide/genetics calculator, similar to what world of ball pythons has. The all-encompassing Ball Python app!

Now I just have to wrassle me up some of them there technology skills. So I can make this fantastic app.

That's why this poll is for iPhone/iPod touch users lol. But I've stated this before, I'd rather have a mobile frontend than an app. BUT... I would definitly get the app if they made one.

Hahaha Yes!! Wrassle some up. We could all use an app like that. That would be genius. I hadn't even thought of that. Ok so now we have it, a mobile frontend of this site so more people can conveniently look at bp.net while using their smatphones and then also a ball python app where people can look at care sheets/morph guide/genetics calculator etc. Now all we need is a technical genius to make the perfect app! Any takers??

(I was mostly being a brat because the iPhone is the devil :P )

So the iPhones don't have a very good internet? I'm terribly confused. First of all, it doesn't seem like the iPhone is all that great in the first place-with all the issues I've heard about. Secondly the iTouch has internet that works just fine-granted it's wi-fi, but the iPhone doesn't have a decent internet??? :rolleye2: I'll stick with the iTouch and a real phone :P Oh, and a laptop :P

The iPhones have Safari - which is one of the best browsers available.

When I browse BP.net with my iPhone, it looks just the same as when I'm on my computer browsing...with Chrome, FireFox, or Safari (on my computer).

All the issues you heard about were hyped up. A majority of iPhone users are NOT experiencing those issues that were headline news. I know, because I'm using my new iPhone trouble free. No antenna issue at all. It's fast, smooth, looks damn good with the hi-res screen, and it has been very reliable for me.

A lot of the people I talk to that have the new iPhone state the same.

It isn't the iPhone that has internet issues. It just depends on the network in your area. In some places, the 3G works flawless and is super fast...in other places, it's crap. Blame that on AT&T.

edit: Also, iPhone does have WiFi built in. Again, it depends on how decent your WiFi network is.

I'm not a fan of AT&T. I feel like I get ripped off every time I open my phone bill. But for me, the abilities of the iPhone make it worth it. I'm a nerd :nerd: I can justify it.

Flash sucks. It's as simple as that.

iPhones don't support Flash because they know that. It's a dying technology.

No, I can't. That costs extra. Again, that's an AT&T issue, not an iPhone issue. So, kudos to you. :)

It's all good brotha. I appreciate you dealing with the haters so I didn't have to. After all, this thread is specifically for iPhone users. I honestly don't care if non iPhone users wouldn't want the app, it's irrelevant. I just want to know how many people with iPhones would want the app. I then broadened my question from app to a mobile template as well which could actually be used by you haters (if you at least have a smartphone). I hope this clarifies the situation.
