I bought this "yellow belly/het ivory" female, and had her shipped to me. Now that she's here I'm not so sure she is as advertised, but I'm a noob so I thought I would ask for a second opinion before I start sending ugly emails. Here's a few pictures, not of greatest quality but hopefully good enough.

And people ask Big Gunns why he doesn't sell online anymore.....and hasn't for years. Well here's a clear cut reason.

Why didn't you ask what people thought instead of saying "did I get ripped off"? So what if some "forum expert" says you got ripped off. Are you gonna post this persons name and drag them through the mud before you really know for sure?

I am not an "expert" (like BG), but I would say that it is a YB. The pictures don't help any, but the belly shots allow me to see enough to be 80% sure it is a YB.

You see...this is where BG has the problem with this thread. The topic says "did i get ripped off". Well this thread could go in a few different ways. Just say the first few people say he did. Soon enough the sellers name will come up in the thread before he's ever been proven to do anything wrong. my 80% is NOT based on anything buy what I see. I have no idea who it is, what the motives are for the thread ... no idea who the poster is, but they are concerned and asking for people to chime in, so that is all I am doing.

I can't be 100% because of the pictures and because I am not you.

People that are new to the hobby have expectations and fears, sometimes some of those things need opinions and advice. If you ask me the poster did the right thing posting the pictures here and asking if he should be concerned. He didn't post the breeders name or say he WAS taken for a ride, but what he did do was ask a question .. in a place where there are a lot of people able and willing to help him with his questions. I would say that is better than taking the fear and anger he had to the breeder right away without having some assurance one way of the other.

I have been in the posters shoes, unsure about what you see. I have in the heat and fear of those moments posted stuff that was dumb, but it is all part of figuring out what is going on.

BG needs to take a step back and realize that not everyone is out for blood, that there are good people in this hobby ... but some are new to everything.

I understand what you are saying, my only point is I think the op's intent was not to demonize anyone (I see not names in the post), but to ask the question. Could it have been asked differently? Of course it could have, but as I said .. if you made a purchase, you are new o everything and fear maybe something isn't right, most people to stop and think about the wording .. they want assurance and information.

So what you're saying is Big Gunns is right.:D You just don't want to come right out and say it. :D The reason BG came down on him is so some other "noob" thinks twice before he/she does the same thing.

The only problem BG ever had was when someone with a similar name had some problem that was blamed on Big Gunns. BG has seen many friends that were slammed by the "forum experts" though...so it is a sore subject for him.

Lol sorry to the OP, Dont know anything about YBs.

But I have to say is kinda funny how people get worked up over BG lol... Even though he makes some good points, he is just being a Tool Bag :P

To the OP, read carefully. Your YB is not of the same colouration as the one preduced by me here, but that's just due to the line I'm working with.

LOOK at the area when the pattern meets the belly- even on sucky YB (or sucky pics) you'll note it almost looks pixelated like a low-res you-tube video. Your snake is a YB. I suggest you get to know the attributes on the morphs a bit better BEFORE you buy.

Too simple ask in advance what to look for- there'e enough of us here to help with that.

I agree. Good advice for anyone who is new and is shopping for a morph. Ask about them first so you know what ot look for.

And also make sure you buy from someone legit, then you can be assured you're getting what you paid for.

From what I see, I say it's a yellow belly.
If it's dead in the morning, I'd say it was sent to you sick and you got ripped off.
Buy from breeders that have been around a few years and you won't get the ripped off feelings. Uh, I guess.

I appreciate all the feedback, even the obnoxious 3rd person bit. I was basing my original observations on something I read about there supposedly being a spot on the head that is not present on my snake. All the other characterictics of yellowbellies are clearly visible, so I just was unsure.

My question to the OP is this what kind of dialogue did you have with the breeder between suspecting a mistake had been made and verifying the ID with us? People tend to forget that mistakes do happen. Breeder's are people too so mistakes do happen.When you first suspect a mistake had been made your first call should be the breeder. Give them the chance to fix the mistake or to explain and rectify the error.

As a breeder if I make a mistake and your first call isn't me the minute you think something is a miss.. I'm going to think your trying to pull something..

Prime example this happened to me..I ordered a HC albino female. Paid for it and it got shipped. One of the smoothest transactions I've ever had.. Get the animal in and it is completely different than the animal in the pic that I was sent and in the advertisement. I instantly pick up the phone called the breeder and here's the key ...UN-Accusingly stated there may have been a mix up. I explained the problem and the breeder went right to work seeing where the mix up was..See the snake I was looking at was labeled as male on the breeders site, there was only two male and female. I ordered a female. Come to find out, I did get the female (and the better looking of the two animals). What happened was the pics got switched around on the site..

I never once thought or even considered that the breeder was trying to rip me off. I simply felt a mistake had been made..

Please everyone remember people on a forum can't solve an issue between you and your breeder. So go to the breeder first and when all possible avenues have been explored. Then ask for outside help.

YB. Did it come in that envelope ? Economy is worse than i thought. :D

Big Gunns will admit to you my leeetle noob. That spot is the one thing that has always confused a lot of people. You can see as many without it, as with it.


Here is an example of how this thread could have gone. Look at all the mistaken "experts" on this thread. The first few people could have had tool calling out this breeder WORLDWIDE!!!!!!!! The net is WORLDWIDE people just in case you forgot.:taz:


Anyway, it seems tool has his answer. Even though the pics are lousy and BG would like to see better ones. He agrees with the other "experts". It appears to be a YB, but BG still wants better pics before he stamps it 100%.(BG just covering his perfect azz):rofl:.

Excellent anecdote! Its sad that as a society and as a group of hobbyists that to a certain extent we've come to assume the worst. Your story is a good reminder that sometimes innocent mistakes do happen, and we should give benefit of the doubt 1st before coming to the worst conclusions.

My opinion is it is a Yellowbelly.

You do need better photos.
