Do you enjoy seeing people's collections?

Do you actually enjoy seeing people's collections?


I see it two ways:

Showing off

or

Just sharing pictures


So the question really is, do you, as a viewer, enjoy seeing people's pictures of their collections (groups of pictures of different morphs that people own)??

i only look at these threads when they are of brock's collection or something like that. i usually don't look at them unless its a morph or combo i like.

I enjoy seeing everyone's stuff especially hatching's. Some could see it as showing off but I don't.

i love seeing EVERYTHING, from normals to one of a kinds :)

but i like it the best when they're good pictures hehe.

I love seeing pics, no matter who's they are. Yes, morph pics that have a professional look to them are awesome but so are the ones of someones first normal. I don't see anything wrong with showing off animals that you love and are proud of. Who else can we share our passion with that understands it other than those who share that same passion??

I like to view others collections and get ideas on what I need to add to mine.

I look at some of them--I enjoy seeing the animals people are showing off. <lol>

I have to live vicariously through everyone here. I don't have time to respond to every thread anymore....but I never tire of admiring someone's pride and joy....whether that is some fancy new combo, or a "plain ol' normal" that someone is thrilled to have. I love the picture threads. :gj:

yea i like seeing other peoples stuff... showing off or not.. these snakes are some serious eye candy for me -all of em! lol :gj:

I love em. Many times that's the first time I see a morph that gets added to the want list. That one girl from Heather's Herps always has nice looking animals:)

I love pictures, you never know what sort of crazy goodies you're going to see.

I voted "Kinda", because I do enjoy looking at interesting animals. I also enjoy seeing someone's first reptile, it makes me reminiscence to when I purchased my first reptiles. However, I often don't enjoy seeing sellers posting pictures of their animals strictly to sell them. They'll have a picture thread and two posts under it, selling that same animal.

As far as people "showing off", the only problem I have with that is my addiction to acquire more animals leads me to usually covet said collection. :P

All in all, I enjoy looking at most people's collections. Especially a collection with variety!

I love seeing peoples collections, especially over a matter of time, that way you're able to see their animals grow and how their color develops. And if they, for example, have an awesome morph/normal that still looks just as incredible year(s) later, then I would be interesting in purchasing their morph's/normal's future offspring.

...And besides, who can resist living vicariously through another's collection.:D

I like being able to see the excitement of a new owner.

I like to get inspired by others.

So yes I do enjoy seeing people’s collection whether it is someone’s very first snake or someone’s amazing new combo.

The only time I don't enjoy seeing someone's pics is if either:

a) the pics are such horrible quality that you can't really see what they are

or

b) they depict horrible husbandry errors and/or a suffering animal

Otherwise, I definitely enjoy seeing other people's animals, especially because I'm not really in a position to acquire any more for myself at the moment.

I love seeing everyone else's because i dont have any of them and it is just amazing to see all the morphs. :gj:

I ABSOLUTELY love seeing peoples collections. I often see species and morphs I didn't even know existed.

I LOVE seeing other people's collections. and I love it when people show off their snakes. And I love showing off mine! I see nothing wrong with it, I am very proud of my animals and love sharing it with others!

I love seeing people's collections, the variation in normals and all of the morphs makes it interesting to see what people have!

I don't own or even plan on owning any ball pythons, but I still love seein em. Or anything else really. :)

Me personally, I would rather just enjoy the shots of some cool animals then persue some cynical reason(show off, sales pitch) of why they posted it.

But thats me;)

Everyone i know hates or fears reptiles. And i love them. I love taking pics of my pets and i have nobody to share them with. Reptile people are few and far between. The net is all we have.

I Love it I am drawn to picture threads,I mean who dosent like a little eye candy right? Even if you look at it as showing off is that so bad? When someone has a animal I can't afford at least I can look at quality pictures and dream.Getting quality pic of quality animals out there influences and inspires people.This actually make the herp community stronger.At a time when the herp community is constantly under attack through new legislation numbers are Never a bad thing!:salute:

I really enjoy looking at other peoples collections. Usually when I go to someones website the collection tab is the first thing I view. Is it showing off? Maybe but it could be that they are so proud of their collection they want to share it with others. I know I do. I really adore me animals and find my self just looking at photos of them while I am at work some times. Call me :rolleye2: but reptiles are a huge part of my life and I can't get enough of them. So yes I enjoy threads with great pictures of others collections.

I love looking at picture threads and seeing people's collections and new additions. It's always fun. I don't always like every single snake pictured of course but that's just about personal taste.

If it weren't for the collection threads and picture threads I probably wouldn't have a clue as to what half the morphs or designer combos are that I do now (which is probably a tenth of what's out there heh) and I probably wouldn't be working towards a couple of the projects that I currently am either.

Yup, gotta say I love seeing other people's reptiles. Especially snakes. I'm the only person I know that has such a passion for snakes, so it's nice to find a place where other people share that same love for the slithering creatures.:gj:

The whole point of this forum (outside of husbandry Qs) is to show off your animals and enjoy seeing other people show off theirs!! lol

I must agree , I love pictures it is part of what keeps me coming back so frequently. Seeing something new all the time is exciting. :D

I love looking at pictures of peoples snakes simply because it lets me get a better idea of the variation in each morph and so decide on what I like.

A year ago I would have sworn blind my fave spiders were ultra-reduced low whites - almost solid gold with black x's down the spine looks amazing to me.

But then someone posted a picture of a blackback spider with lots of alien eyes in the side pattern and I thought it was a stunning looking snake. But until I saw it I would have sworn blind I didn't like that kind of spider. :rolleyes:

I still like low white spiders but prefer high white bumble bees ( mainly thanks to Ed's it has to be said ).

The variablility is amazing in these animals and for those of us who cannot get to shows easily online photo's are probably the only way we will ever see enough of them to know about it. :)

It also gives me a feel for what combo's I like best and might be able to make in the future - can you imagine spending thousands of dollars and 3-5 years just to make a combo you then realise you didn't like as much as you thought you would? :weirdface

I LOVE seeing other people's collections! I really enjoy seeing new morphs (base or combo) and seeing how a snake is looking as it gets older. I especially like to see people kill the odds with hatchlings. A good example here recently of killing the odds is RegiusCo and that pied to het pied clutch.
A good example recently of seeing some cool morphs and seeing how they are progressing is Albinos Unlimited posting some pics of the Jester and Banana Clown.

Something else I like, as some others have stated, is the variability of the morphs. Seeing how different some of the same morphs or combos look is really cool. :cool:

I enjoy seeing pics of other peoples collection. The variability from normals to the morphs is truely amazing. Plus I get to see, and drool, over some combo's or morphs that I wont be able to own for many many years. so keep posting those pics.

I very much enjoy seeing all of the pirctures of the snakes. I think that they are all beautiful.

some times. some times it just makes me feel like i have nothing compaired to them. which is usually the case lol. I dont mind seeing some common stuff but when people have like crazy and expensive morphs its like :weirdface :tears:

Some times it does seem like showing off, other times it just seems like someone wants to share what they have. I for one would just like to share, I dont have a need to show of to look cool on the internetz. :banana:

I love seeing other people's collections. I'm very new at this and I find it fascinating what's out there and what's possible when I'm ready to start my own breeding :snake::snake::snake: project.

The pictures are what keep me coming back for more! I just love seeing other people's collections. They help me to find out about new morphs and new combos, appreciate the variability within a morph and between morphs, and admire other people's photography skills and collections and share in their joy.

Most of all, I love knowing that there are others out there who appreciate the beauty of these animals as much as I do.

I like seeing pics of peoples collections, I dont post alot of pics because nothing personal but I dont like ppl knowing everything I have.

I get kinda of tired of looking at peoples ball python collection (no offense) unless its a really crazy looking morph.

I guess thats why you don't really see me in the BP sections that often.

I love to see people's collections, setups, and even video's of it as well it helps other's to grow in the hobby as well as give birth to new and innovative ideas.

I wish I had more time to post here, both in response to others pictures and to take and post more pics of my collection! And I think people should "show off" their animals more often so I can see all the morphs I can't afford!

I love seeing everyone's collections!!! How else are you going to learn about all the morphs and what the goods and the bads of each morph look like. Of course there are other ways, but the plethera of BPs on this site is awesome!

I voted kinda because there are a few different angles to look at it from.

Personally I think it's great to see some pictures of a little bit of this and a little bit of that. To mention a few examples: newly hatched baby/s, latest member/s of the 'tribe' or ones first reptile. They do it out of sheer excitement and sincere happiness which is great! :)

It's also great to see some individuals hit the odds and perhaps hatch out a rare combo - sweet! :D

But there are also some individuals who posts several photos with the sole purpose of bragging (the bad way of bragging) and that isn't nice. I haven't seen any of these individuals here but there's a quite a few in the European forums.

And the way some of them do it is so tasteless. :colbert:

Some tend to critisize other lines of ball pythons to point out that their animal is the most 'superior' of all. One person even had a nice looking black pastel (no specific line I pressume) that was ready to breed this season but he 'threw' it away because some breeder in another country hatched out some black pastels whose father originated from Gulf Coast Reptiles (I don't have any grudge against you guys at GCR :) ). They're not Gucci handbags... At least in my world.

I love animals, and I love seeing the ones that people have, be it snakes, dogs, or any others. They don't have to be "anything special" I enjoy seeing them all, normals, morphs, oddities, babies the works. What I REALLY love seeing though, is what people have produced (animal wise) or built for themselves, such as racks, incubators, and things to heat up the meals. It's all fun to get to see.

If you get kind of snooty and bored with seeing normals, I think you have lost vision of why you got into this hobby. Just my 2c.

i also like seeing ppls racks they built. sure ive built a few for both snakes and rodents, but im always looking at new designs and ideas.

I love seeing everyones pets!!! But I must say....it just makes me add more to the list of wants....lol

I like seeing the pics of snakes doing things, exploring outside, crawling on the couch, hiding in a boot and stuff like that. I also like those pics of a clutch of eggs that have little BP heads poking out...
