Lemon Pastel X Jungle pastel het axantic = pewter?

I bred a 0.1 lemon pastel against a 1.0 jungle pastel 100% het axanthic

The offspring are now hatching and 2 of them look exactly like a pewter

How can that happen

It can't happen, unless there is sperm retention from the last year with the female.

Post pictures ASAP please :D.

Yes,but they look very different than what i looked up on internet.

They look like the faded shade of super pastels with beige(light brown) no yellow at all

I suppose there's a slight, slight, SLIGHT chance that the lemon pastel was also het for axanthic and you got some pastel axanthics, but man you'd be one of the luckiest people in the world.

Pics would help a ton.

Yes i got here as a baby in 2006 She was 1500 gramms when i bred her this year to a male jungle 100% axanthic from 2007 weight 980 gramms

Well... they can't be, can they? One of them has to have the gene which added to the pastel to make these. I bet it is the 'jungle' pastel.

what not shows that well in the picture is that they have a stong lavender colour

The male is allso het axanthic

please post pics of the parents.i know you say their plain pastels but their might be something that someone else see's in one of them to help id the hatchlings.
their might be a hidden gene or they could be axanthics. ive also seen het foralbinos that come out very faded and have the appearance of axanthics.
who knows ......lets see them

You cans send one to me so i can help identify it ;) And yeah, post up some pics of the parents, chances are its something with the "Jungle" or the other pastel is Het axanthic as well.

Either way something crazy is going on here man. This is even exciting for me, haha.

Could be a Axanthic Pastel, your Female may have also been a Het, but I agree with Heather it looks like a Pewter. A couple of sheds should tell the whole story.

Do pewters always have the squiggles in the alien eye part? I always asociated that more with black pastels and wondered if that is what the jungle was.

Check this out, it's from the pictures forum recently. It's a Super Pastel het Red Axanthic. It looks very similar to your girl from what I can tell. I'd wager that that's a Super Pastel Axanthic maybe?

Red Axanthics and Axanthics have nothing to do with each other.
Het Red Axanthics are codom as Axanthics are recessive.

Than my son told me that he put in "just for one day dad" his male cinnamon without telling me.

Sorry for the misunderstanding,i am ashamed.

The good side is i have got two pewters,a cinnamon a pastel and a normal.

Cinnie's traditional name is "Cinnamon Pastel". Technically Pastel's traditional name is "Jungle Pastel". A Cinnamon Jungle Pastel is a Pewter.

Haha, well that explains it! And I know there's a difference between axanthics and red axanthics, but I was searching for a possible explanation that didn't involve some super unique hidden gene, and the mother and father were both clearly not het reds. Anywho, I'm glad you got this solved! Funny story to tell in the end!
