Female Breeding Size Question
Alright, well I just got back from picking up 4 adult girls for this year and got them on the scale. The weights go from 2400, 1850, and the other 2 were in the 1600's. I also have another female that I have had for a while now that weighs 1900grms. What I was wondering was, what kind of weight gains could I expect from now to breeding season. Also what kind of clutch sizes could one expect on a snake that weighs 1500 grams? What is a good way to pack on some weight for my smalller girls, I would really like them all to be in the 2000 gram range when I breed them is this a unrealistic goal?

when they are breeding they eat like crazy,mine put on 5 to 600 grams till ovulation they stop eating & then they lay.they are perfect breeding size if thats what their weights are.

Its impossible to tell you what a clutch will be like from a particular animal based upon its weight. It varies from animal to animal, some females will lay clutches that are higher in the number of eggs with a lower weight per egg; others will lay fewer but much larger eggs.

ok so pretty much my 1600 gram female has just as much of a chance to lay a 10 egg clutch as my 2300 gram female? I thought the heavier the snake the more eggs type of deal. I'm really excited though, this is going to be my first breeding season. I'm thinking about saving up for some kind of super just not sure yet. Would be amazing if I could get a blue eyed lucy male to breed to them and make all butters or something!! Speaking of males, I have a pastel male. He's only 1 year old but hes been a beast since I got him and has been packing on the weight like its his job, right now weighing 700 grams. I heard males can breed at a really early age, how do you determine if there ready?

As far as weight goes it doesnt matter as long as they are nice and healthy, not to fat not to skinny, and as long as they are producing sperm plugs you should be alright.

When you pop them a sperm plug will pop out, you can find pics on here if you do a search on here. Know Heather posted one a few months back, check either the breeding section or the the picture section.
