    question about clowns
Okay, I read it somewhere, but for the life of me :confuzd: I can't remember where and I've been searching :rolleye2:, but somebody mentioned that when you want to produce reduced clowns, the best way is from reduced pattern parents. Is this true? thanx.

I believe BHB's line of clowns is known for being "reduced"

Clowns are simple recessive, breed two together & you get Clowns, even if the parents aren't a reduced pattern. I just happen to prefer a reduced pattern on this morph & so will selective breed for it.

Yes, they are! Very consistent results & he's been selective with his breeding to achieve it too. This is why I purchased my Het female from him. But my male is from a different line that's has also thrown some very reduced animals like him. His background is about half the babies in the clutches being reduced, so not as consistent as BHB's... however the reduced are very good.

There are great looking Clowns with busy patterns too. But I'm working to focus on re-enforcing the reduced result because I prefer it.

I hope reduced clowns do produce more reduced animals.

That is the reason we picked the most reduced ones we could find for our own breedings.

Ralph Davis has a line of Reduced pattern Clowns as well.

I prefer them to the ones with lots of spots.

I don't care for the really reduced clowns as they start to look like G-stripes. Yet I don't like super busy ones as it starts looking dirty. Something in between is nice. :)
