    I Took A Chance
I was contacted by a guy locally who had a Jungle Carpet Python he wanted to get rid of. He asked if I might be interested in taking him due to my rescuing of reptiles.
I did a little searching on the internet to see what I could find and about the only thing I found was the fact these snakes like to bite and can be rather hard to handle. Apparently this was the case with this snake.
I decided to take a chance though just the same to see what I might be able to do with him. I met him this morning and couldn't believe how beautiful this snake is. I had seen pics of the Jungel Carpet Pythons, but to see one in person was amazing. I was instantly hooked and agreed to take him home. As the previous owner tried to reach into the pillowcase to bring him out, the snake struck repeatedly, biting him at least 4 times before he was able to get him out. I was very reluctant to try and handle this snake due to his aggressiveness toward him, but took a chance and took him from this guy. Once I took him, he showed no signs of aggressiveness and coiled around my arm and laid perfectly still while we got to know eachother.
I spent about an hour talking with this guy while the snake laid around my arm and all that time he made no attempt to move or try to slither away. I got the snake home and once again tried handling him and agaian, the snake made no hostile moves toward me. He has been coiled up next to me all night on the arm of my recliner and has been resting his head on my arm as I watched tv. I've never had any of my snakes sit still that long, especially after I first bring them home.
Anyways, I'm hooked on this guy and am so glad I took the chance and brought him home. We'll see what tomorrow brings from him when I try to handle him after spending the night in his new temporary home. I will post pics tomorrow. All in all, it was a great day!!!

    A warning from personal experiance:

My carpets do NOT like to be taken out of their cages. They are very aggressive while in their cage.

BUT... Once they are out, they are puppy dog tame. Have never struck at me while out of their cages.

I am sure that you will enjoy him. I love mine.

I've never seen snakes hate certian people, but some of my snakes are easily more comfortable being handled by me vs someone. guess it can go the other way, guy musta been a :cens0r: lol.

i have 3 carpets and the only one that has tired to bite is my jungle when he was a baby, after a few months he calmed down and now hes a puppy dog, my other jungle i got when she was 2 and already about 4 feet long, shes a spaz but doesn't try to bite, she is difficult to handle due to her moving around all the time. then i just resently got a IJ jag and shes so far been the perfect snake, active but not crazy when out, eats whatever i feed her, even in deep shed, just great

so forget what they say about them just liking to bite and hard to handle, to each snake their own.
