Re: Moving up from fuzzy's
Fuzzies are way to small for a BP, most hatchlings are started on hoppers and quickly move to small adult mice and/or adult mice.
Re: Moving up from fuzzy's
Even a tiny bp is big enough to eat a hopper at minimum. If you're feeding him 2 fuzzy's then he can definately eat a hopper at minimum.
Re: Moving up from fuzzy's
Let me hijack this thread real quick for a VERY similar question. I know every snake grows at different rates, but how old would you say do BPs move up to adult mice on average?
Excuse any typing mistakes. I'm posting from my phone.
Re: Moving up from fuzzy's
I got my guy about a month ago and he was still on fuzzys he's over 4 mos old now. Should I try to give him 3 fuzzys tonight? I took him to the vet last week and she said to move him up to 2 and then try 3 if he will take them.
Re: Moving up from fuzzy's
I would not listen to your vet about that. If he's over 4 months he should be on a bit bigger then hoppers.
Re: Moving up from fuzzy's
Thanks for the tip I'm gonna try to get him to eat 3 he just gobbled down the first one and is waiting on another I'll get him on a bigger mouse next week.
Re: Moving up from fuzzy's
They do realy move up fast on mice sizes, that's why most people feed rats, since they get much bigger. Im raising 2 babies, they are about 3 months old now. They eat the smallest small rats I can find, Which are about the same size as a grown adult mice.
Try giving him a medium mouse and see the results for your self. Im sure it will be fine. He could probably take an adult mouse too, but you would know better =)

Unless you/the vet is actually thinking "hopper" when you say "fuzzy," it doesn't sound like your little guy is getting enough food. Using a scale will remove all doubt.
The method I use is to weigh our snake every week, and then each individual mouse, writing its weight on the baggie it's in. That way it's easy to give him the 10%-15% weight mouse.
