Could i keep my BP in a tub?
Hey everyone im getting another baby BP soon(either a pin or a mojove) and i want to put him in a tub instead of a tank to save some money and space..
the only thing i was wondering is will the humidity get to high? i live near the beach and the humidity in my bps TANK is at like 58-60% all the time(exept during shed), and i am afraid the humidity will be to high in the tub.. would it be possible to cut a giant hole in the top and hot glue or zip tie some chicken wire securely or something to get better ventilation and lower the humidity?
thanks
Re: Could i keep my BP in a tub?
Sure, you can keep them in tubs. If the humidity is too high you can solder holes in the side of the tub and the lid.

No, I just skimmed it. What were you using for substrate? You may be able to use substrate that is less likely to hold humidity, like newspaper.

i am planning on using aspen. i heard aspen is good if u have to high humidity

Use newspaper, and I've heard that high humidity is really only a problem when condensation starts to build up un the cage.

Aspen would be just fine to use. For me, Aspen holds in the humidity quite well when I mist it. I live in a hot area with low humidity, so I have trouble keeping the humidity in the tank. This makes Western Hognoses SO MUCH EASIER to take care of for me lol, they like the low humidity. You can use these substrates: Sani Chips, Aspen Bedding, Newspaper, and Paper towels. That's all I could think of that don't really keep in humidity, and good luck with controlling the humidity!

thanks! im going to get the tub and all the stuff today! do you know how i would make a giant square in the top for the screen?
Re: Could i keep my BP in a tub?
If you cut a screen out on top of your lid id just recommend watching the temps a little more. I have two 12 quart tubs that i use for my BP. One is his living quarters and the other is his feeding tub. I have a top with holes drilled in it and atop with 80% cut off and replaced with screen. At first i used the screen but the temperatures fluctuate more with a screen top. Now i use the ones with the holes and the temps are much more steady and still no condensation. Granted i live in the adirondacks so my temperature changes might be a little more drastic from day to day since the weather is awful here most of the time. But we've been having 95% relative humidity outside and between 60-75% in the house. I didnt have an condensation except once right by his water dish when i moved his aspen bedding out of the way and put it directly on the bottom of the tub where the heat pad is right underneath.
