When to stop 5 days feeding?
Hi again :D
I was wondering when am I supouse to stop the 5 days feeding for hatchlings?
I have a normal female and a pastel male, they are about 3 months old each. They are very close in weight, just shy of 300g on an empty stomach each.
I been feeding each of them every 5 days since I got them.
To me they still look small lol... but I guess it's because I see them everyday. My mom just saw them the other day, it was at least a month and some since she saw them for the last time. She said "o-m-g! they are so big now!" I think she exagerated a little. :P
I know there is no set rule to when to move them to every 7 day feeding, but at what weight would it be a good time? or should I let them decide? They have very strong feeding responses. Those poor rats have about an average of 5secs "live" time in the BPs enclosures...
Oh and yes they are being fed appropiate size rats, even a few grams heavier.
Thanx again!
Re: When to stop 5 days feeding?
well i feed my bp every 5-6 days and shes roughly 4 months old. so id say once your bp gets 700 grams, then start feeding every 7 days, then id say 1000-1200+ grams, feed every 8-10 days. its just an opinion though. theres other ways.
Re: When to stop 5 days feeding?
If I remember correctly, most things I've read say you should move to 7 day feedings once they reach 500g.
Re: When to stop 5 days feeding?
I feed them every 5 days as long as they are accepting food every 5 days. Once I start seeing consistent refusals on that schedule, I move them to every 7 days.

500g or one year old which ever is later seem to work for most of my BPs, but as Rabernet states, listen to your snakes. If they aren't feeding consistently adjust your schedule to a longer interval. Most of my adults are on 7 or 10 day schedules.
