Clutch #2 finally on the ground
My favorate normal girl finally dropped last night, after two full years of trying to get spider eggs from her. I can't wait to see how cool these spiders look. I bought her from John Piro in 2007 as a '04 C.H. normal. He bought her hoping she would prove out to be a woma, but he got a clutch that didn't have any womas, so I'm hoping he was just unlucky, and that her pattern and color are genetic. Either way, she should throw some killer spiders. She was also paired with my bee, but I didn't witness any locks, so there is a small chance I will get a surprise bee or pastel from this clutch.

Thanks, guys. I'm hoping for 6 more clutches, but it's getting late, so I'm getting worried that I won't see some of those girls go until next year. A lot of them are big girls, so even if I have to wait a year, the large clutches they are going to drop will make up for it. Plus I have a few nice males that are getting up to size, so it will all even out in the end.

I've given up on my last two hold outs, but depending on your location, you may still have a shot. In any case that clutch combo you have there should make some stunning babies! :gj:

Well, I turned off all my heat tape after last season and started heating the entire snake room, then I got off to a late start and my females got off to a late start developing follicles, so I was expecting a late and long season. But I thought I'd have a couple more clutches incubating by now. I think at least 2-3 more will definitely go soon, but we'll see what happens. I was basically prepared to lose a season when I decided to turn off the heat tape and change things up.

Do you have a weight in her before and after laying?

That is one cool looking snake.

I keep my snake room at 80-82F year-round, with a 90-92F hot spot. With this set up the snakes tend to go into breeding mode in the fall due to the light cycle. But if you just changed how you've been doing stuff that could explain the hick-up. They should be completely adjusted for you this fall.
