    uth question
    hi, i am new here and i was wondering, i have a zoo med 10 gallon uth will it be ok if i placed the uth on the side of the tank instead of the bottom?

    You can place it on the side, but I would recommend placing it on the bottom.

    Why would you want to place it on the side? Snakes need belly heat to digest, so it should be on the bottom.

    If the issue is raising the tank for circulation, just use those little stick on felt circles for furniture legs, they work great.
    And regardless of where the UTH is placed, you should leave the paper on and attach the pad with foil tape. That way it is no trouble to move.

    As far as burning goes, you need to have a thermostat to control it...or a lamp dimmer at the VERY least. The thermostat is the MOST important piece of snake keeping equipment. They range from $20-$100+, so just about any budget can manage to get one.
