Logo for Clarke Reptiles

I was trying to figure out what kind of logo I wanted. I started fooling around in Paint and came up with a basic design and then got the idea of adding a circle around it and displaying bp morphs in it. This is a very very very rough idea drawn up in paint and then I used a image editing program that came with my computer years ago.

Tell me what you think and be brutally honest. I want my logo to look good and since I'm doing this myself, I'm going to need some good advice. I also need to know if something like this has been done so I don't "copy" anyone.

i think its a good idea, but you have to think of practicality. The space between the C and the L is much to large, it reads (to me) as C Larke Reptiles.

Also, when you resize this logo for a business card, the color parts will be very difficult to see because they'll be so small.

Hmm, good point. I will have to rethink this logo a bit. Its just hard to design a logo around a name rather than a thing or place.

It's certainly not memorable. Too much space beween the "C" and the "L" In general doesn't appeal to me at all.

Best thing you can do is to go someplace like the digital point forums, sign up, log in, find the design forum (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=104) and look for posts with WTS in front that are talking about logos. You'll find people willing to do your logo for anywhere from $5 to several hundred dollars.

It's money well spent and most of them will keep revising it until you are happy with it. Just ask before you have them start obviously. I got my site header and logo done as a package deal from someone on there for $12. It might not be the greatest on the internet but for $12 it's pretty nice.

Finalize the design, get the morph pattern photos, and I'll make it for you for free if you like. Won't take long if you do the design and get the source art.

Dont use paint.. Download Gimp.. Its free and much more of a professional software.... Thats what i use... Btw, i design logos, if your interested send me a PM...

I have two friends who are each drawing me up a logo. One went to school for graphic design so we shall see what she comes up with. :)
