Another Update on Hatchling
I have attempted to assist feed twice. The first time it was a mouse fuzzy and she got to the back legs and spit it back out. I waited a few days and today I tried a day old mouse pink. After getting it into her mouth up to the shoulders, she wasted no time trying to eat it. She got it all the way into her mouth but her throat was bloated out with it being in her throat. She kept trying to pass it down her throat and after a few minutes of this, she started blowing bubbles out her mouth and nostrils. She immediately spit it out half way but before I could move in to grab the rodent after she spit it out, she immediately began eating it again. But the same thing happened. She started blowing bubbles and spit it back out completely. I decided to let her rest and put her back.
Also, after feeling her neck, I have found she has two kinks in her neck. She got the mouse pinky by the first one so that one is not an issue. I was thinking of taking her to a local reptile store owner who has dealt with problem feeders before.
Re: Another Update on Hatchling
It sounds to me like she may have issues with eating because of the kinks. You may need to take her to the vet.
Re: Another Update on Hatchling
I hope that 2nd kink isnt a problem for her. Did you have any pics of her?
Re: Another Update on Hatchling
I will try and get some pictures of the kinks today. I want to leave her alone for a bit. I'm really hoping the 2nd kink will not be a problem. I'd really hate to have to put her down. Would it be possible to use a pinky pump and feed her that way until she is bigger and always feed her prey items that are smaller so they can fit past the kink? I dunno. It was a thought.
Re: Another Update on Hatchling
I found a better camera and snapped two pics of her kinks. The 2nd pic shows you exactly where they are.

Re: Another Update on Hatchling
The question is, are you willing to do that everytime she needs feeding, will the stress be too much for her.
A vet is a good idea. Good luck, and let us know.

Re: Another Update on Hatchling
I took Rubii to a reptile store in town and she was sexed as male, so Rubii is now Rubiix.
The man in the store also found several more kinks in him, mostly near his vent and a little ways up from his tail. Even his tail is kinked. He said he can feel yolk in his belly so assist feeding can wait for now. He wants me to wait till Rubiix has shed before attempting another assist feed. I feel so horrible right now. I was with this little baby on the day of his laying. I paced in front of his incubator all the time, and watched as his siblings died in the egg. His other clutch mate died at full term, a deformed, kinked little baby. Now he's the only surviving baby and I might have to put him down. :( I've grown so attached to this little ball of scales. :tears:

Jay,
I could write a ton here, and I hate that I won't share it her e for o=thers, but my main concern right now is your snake. I think he will be fine, and can be assist fed. Give me a call when you get some time, and we'll discuss it. I don't think he will have to be put down. Our phone number is on the website.
