Should I switch now?

Some of you know I got an 08 albino male on Tuesday. I am planning to offer his first meal on Monday, but I am wondering if should try to switch him to frozen/thawed (the breeder fed him live). I have never fed f/t before, but have read a lot of the tips on this site. My main concern is that I want to try and get him gaining weight so that I can try to breed him in December so I don't really want him to go weeks without meals. Any thoughts? Thanks

I don't see why not. It really isn't the hardest change to make. All of my snakes have made the change easily. Some snakes are pickier than others though.

Your priority with a new animal is to get him to eat for you first, once well established (after 4 to 5 successful feeds) then you can attempt to switch him.

I agree your first priority should be getting him to eat, but there is no reason not try out F/T.

My experience with F/T has not been great. I have to many snakes to spend all day heating reaheating and making the the rat dance for each snake. I do have a few that eat whatever I get them no matter what though. Live is easier, more expensive, but if the snake doesnt eat then you can save a live mouse for another day.

Thanks for the opinions. I have talked to some others as well, and I think I will live feed for a few weeks and then go to prekilled and then try switching to f/t. Since I haven't fed f/t before it's a learning curve for me too. Thanks for all the help with my noobish questions :salute:
