What would you do?
I have a 08 female pastel that is dieing from something.I did think it was IBD but naw im not so sure. The one thing i do know is she is not geting better.
She has not moved much for a week and is laying on her side. I flip her to the other side and the side she was on is very flat and lifeless she moves her head sometimes but seemes to not know where it is going.Im sure this is the end of the line for this girl but i dont know when to say OK thats it...and make room in the freezer. if i do freeze her how long will it take? and what should i do with the body after?i dont want something to dig her up.This is not fun....but you pay the coust to be the boss as thay say. this is something im sure some of you breeders have had to do.Today i think will be the day...i dont think she will pull through this one..:tears::tears:

If she's that bad put her in a baggie, put that in the freezer.
It won't take long.

Aww, I am sorry. I don't know what I would do, I guess I should think about those kinds of things. Poor girl.:(

Re: What would you do?
I would take her to a vet, have her checked out and euthanized if that's what needs to happen.
I HATE the 'ol snake in the freezer bit, I think we owe them a little more than that...

I hear this from time to time and I generally ignore it. However, you seem relatively intelligent and willing to see other viewpoints than your own.
I've worked with reptiles for many years. I used to have a retail store in which we had a vet come in to do a clinic once a month. People from all over brought their animals in to see him. He specializes in exotics, reptiles in particular.
It was on his recommendation that I started using the freezing process. Long before any cells start to explode from being frozen the snake has shut down brain function. They get cold, not pleasant but far better than suffering untold hours, days, weeks, while we try to decide what to do, and fade away.
I'm not trying to convince you, but I am confident that I am not causing pain to those in my charge when I make the decision to freeze them.

Re: What would you do?
Shes seen 2 vets one sead IBD is something ther born with.. not true... the other sead she did not have a clue what elce it could be but IBD and i had to tell her what IBD was because she had heard of it but did not have the specs on it.So $194 latter i still dont know what it is that is killing her but thay both sead to let them know what happes.....nice... i think i know more about reptiles then both of them put together. I got more info from this web site then i did from the both vets...So i think i owe BP.net ers a big Thank You for all your help...i posted one thread and got all the info i think i can get on the matter and i did not pay a cent for it. The vet is a good thing to have but in my case it did us not one bit of good..sorry to say that but its the way it go,s sometimes and ther is not a lot of Reptile vets. one of the ones that i went to was a Dog,cat, bird,Reptile?,Exotics, vet clinic...i think she put that on ther because she has a (Red tail boa) but that dose not mean you are a reptile vet and should not say that thay are because thay have one...

Re: What would you do?
wilomn, I do agree with you that it is a much more humane way than to let them suffer, or to have them die by other means.
However, having the hands-on experience with euthanasia (An injection of over-dose amounts anesthesia and other substances) I would much rather my snakes go that way, where they literally fall asleep and then everything shuts down, within a matter of minutes, than to have them in my freezer.
I am by no means trying to start an argument, and I very much appreciate you telling about the exotic vet and your experience.
I will say, in the past I have been horrified by the thought of snakes in the freezer, but have learned (an continue to do so) that it is not as bad as a mammal in the freezer.
But given the 2 options, injection or freezing, I would choose injection hands down.
