Black Pigment, 20 Days To Go
Well I was curious to know when Black pigment starts to form. I think I can already see black pattern (which would mean NO ALBINOS :( ) but not sure if that can even be possible.

I can see for sure on two different eggs, that actual banding if you will of the black.

So when does "Black" start to get made. I had heard 40's but then why do I see it now?

    Thanx

I candelled my clutch of Albino + P. Het. Albino at 35 days, was able to tell that 4/6 were not Albino.

They've all pipped now, no albinos :(.

I candled my clutch from a possible het g-stripe to a het g-stripe, and at day 37 was able to tell that at least 4 of the 5 are for sure not g-stripes

They start developing black pattern around day 26-30. You typically cannot distinguish Hypomelanism in a candled egg until around day 45 or so. However, I have candled Spiders, Pinstripes and Spinners around the 30 day mark. Color, however, comes in all the way up to day 60. It is my observation that yellow is the last color to come in. Plenty of times Pastels look cleaner if you cut on day 52 or so, than when they crawl out, and I have cut Axanthic clutches on day 52, and been amazed at the odds, only to find out that yellow color creeps in between day 53 and 58, and some of the Axanthics turned into Hets.

    Hope that helps,
