Double whammy :(

Well cleaning cages I found out that Tyrone(adult male) has a prolapse on his left testicles,and also mouth rot... Uh hes 8 years old. Anyone have any home care ideas?I want to see if i can fix it little at home before a vet. (
Im going to take him to a vet in 3-4 days or less)

There is home treatment for mouth rot, as I have read in a python book (but overall it was saying you can treat mouth rot at home). Though, if it is a very serious mouth rot you will need to see a vet as soon as possible. All you do it gently wipe off the cheesy looking material with a Q-tip dipped in water until all signs of the mouth rot is gone throughout the week or so you do this. Make sure you do this daily. There's also something else you could use for the mouth rot to dip the Q-tip in but I forgot the name. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you dip it in a saline solution (not really sure what it's called, but I think I got it right but still no idea lol so don't go looking for something by the name "saline" until I'm corrected by another user on here lol).

Are you sure it's a prolapse and not just a sperm plug?

I mention this because my first reaction when I saw my male was, "Oh no! Not a prolapse!". I was so relieved when I realized it was just a sperm plug.

Its like an early stage he has some kind of underbite(not that bad), and cant pick of food, he has a hard time eating. Thanks but Should i still do the Q-tip thing?

The tip looks like that but it big and bouljy and the size of a bb pellet bullet. Should i pull it out or gotta go to the vet or put it back in?

Well, even if he has a minor mouth rot, it still should be treated to prevent it getting worse.

Can you post a picture of it? And going to the vet is always an option.

Yes Lgl but not now because my laptop is in the shop ,maybe a day or two maybe 3..

If the mouth rot is bad enough that the gecko has trouble eating it should be treated by a vet (it may require antibiotics and/or daily cleaning with nolvalsan or betadine). You also mention an underbite--are you sure your gecko doesn't have MBD? Are you supplementing with calcium and/or any other vitamins?

As for the prolapse/sperm plug, if it is a prolapse you do NOT want to pull at it at all. Prolapses are serious and require immediate veterinary attention (within 24 hours) or the animal may lose the entire hemipenis (if that is what is prolapsed). You can put a paste made from sugar and water on the prolapsed area to help draw the moisture out of it to help it to shrink before you can get the gecko to a vet. Other than that, keep it as clean and dry as possible (use paper towels for substrate).

If it is just a sperm plug it will be dry looking and not moist at all. If you can post a photo we may be able to determine what it is for sure, but until you know do not attempt to remove it.
