Rescue Albino Burm makes it, was a close call..
Meet “Squish”…. She is a female Albino Burmese Python.
Given up after a nasty divorce and wife and children couldn’t handle the animals…Or so was the story (you can never really tell sadly)

She came in with 2 Ball Pythons (I will do my best to post pics of them also). They all came into rescue on 6/8/09. My camera has been very tricky and their intake file photos did not stick sadly. (the 2 balls were housed together, in a 20 long tank, approx 10 yrs old and the burm was also in a twenty long…. Horrid, algae in water dishes sheds from months ago..just really a sad state of affairs.
She was so emaciated and covered in so many mites. Our DVM and us were so worried she wouldn’t pull through (it was the equivalent of watching a 4 week old kitten become anemic and pass away from a flea infestation. I do not mean to be gruesome. Just the best way to explain it.
Anyhow this is a photo of her after a nice rat dinner and hopefully no more mites.
Man I hate mites you guys would be amazed that here at the rescue we rarely get mites.. and when we do we always have luck that they don’t spread.
Isolation and vet care is key.
Anyhow, thought I would share… We are all just so happy she made it. (it was definitely iffy for a bit).
Well sorry for the ramble but it ws like Christmas when she ate earlier

I'm glad she pulled through, I hate to see any snakes suffer or die for that matter. How is her temperment, because she is a beautiful gal.

She really is actually skin and bones... It always takes time, But we are patient.
Handling at this point is easy as she is so sadly emaciated... The only time we handle ISO cases is when needed medically.. otherwise I have a feeling they don't want to much human interaction :)
I am sure her true colors will come out once she is fully rehabbed.
If that means her striking at us then so be it..
Just want her to fully recover.

PS I have noticed that Burmese pythons come around quickly, even after the crap they endure..

They're durable snakes even though you get stupid care takers that don't provide the proper care or conditions. I wish I could work at a rescue and help snakes out, would be great, although I don't think they are much places around here. Glad you are doing what a lot of people wouldn't do though. That's so sad :( It is such a good thing that she ate for you though, after having mites, being crammed in a small enclousare and emaciated!!! It's nice to see she is in a better place now where people will actully give her the care and love she deserves!!! Nice save :gj:

Is she getting ready to shed or is that from the bad care or the camera? The skin just looks odd. I'll bet she will be pretty when she is better, I like her head.
Keep up the good work, there aren't that many rescuers that work with the exotics, and the reptiles are hard sometimes because there is not as much known about them as the cats and dogs.
