Few questions.

Is it true pythons and boas dont go through the same shedding process exactly? this is how i came to my conclusion. I just want to make sure i can make up my theories:


Boas eyes get completely blue and carpet pythons *mines anyway* they get SLIGHTY darker but dont really blue over much and you cant tell they are in shed from their eyes unless you look at them closely.

I also knew he might be in shed mode because he was much more defensive than he usually is so that kind of clued me in.

I also noticed carpets dont say in shed mode long either mine was in it like maybe a week if that.

MY brazilian rainbow boa is still in it going on a week and half,

my Brazilian as actually be in the water for 3-5 days STRAIGHT.

you can even see the skin that's about to be shedded off of him when he does it that's how long hes been sitting in there.

and his eyes are super blue.

I can definitely say carpet pythons are greedy.

since i got my babies eating finally early last month (July) they don't skip any meals when fed.

If I feed my carpets two mice a week every week how many sheds can i expect to get by this time next year if they dont skip meals?

How many feet/inches will they be?

It's hard to form generic descriptions of the shedding process of ALL boidae versus ALL pythonidae.

Ball pythons for sure blue-over quite a bit. I have noticed that my carpet python doesn't get as deep an eye color going into shed, compared to ball pythons..

As for BRBs, they are notorious for needing much more humidity than many snakes.. I assume they are pretty particular about needs for a good shed.

And as far as eating goes, I can say my carpet must be like yours. She POUNDS F/T rats HARD, and would eat half her body weight if I let her. However, compare her to BPs which are notorious for having periods of difficult feeding.. and you don't reach a boa vs python concensus.. especially since RTBs are supposed to have pretty strong feeding responses.

I have 4 carpets. 2 irian jaya and 2 coastal. I cant say i have noticed that the coastals get an obvious blue or not, but both my irian jayas get extremely dark and their eyes get really blue.

its hard to say how many sheds they will go through and how much they will grow over a years time. There is many variables to that, one big one i think would be how soon you get the carpets on rats.

It just varies on the species of snakes. It's not really a python vs boa thing.

everything everyone else said, plus i would add that the bigger carpets take a really long time to shed. my hatchlings take days, but my adults take weeks.

I don't really know what you're talking about... what do you mean different shedding process? I actually don't get any of the questions, can you rephrase?
