Is this okay for a leo?
As I was just talking about on the morph sub-forum, I'm thinking of getting a leopard gecko. I had them when I was younger, and remember them being very cool pets. I already have 3 ball pythons (soon to be 4), and since I recently moved them into tubs, I have some empty tanks & extra supplies - hence the reason I'm thinking about a lizard. ;)

I thought my 15gal wooden/glass enclosure would be best for them, and I'm wondering if you all agree? Here's a picture of how it looks now, and I'd appreciate advice on making it gecko-friendly! I'll read the care sheets, of course, but they don't answer this question on them.

And before I spruced it up... the heat lamp is still there, since UTHs don't really work on this tank.

That seems perfect for a leo. I suggest a calcium dish and if your going to feed meal worms(if crickets wont realy work). Putting a dish with mealworms in there at all times. Also are you going to breed and are you getting a baby or an adult?

Thanks! :) I will probably get an adult or older juvenile - basically whatever is cute and available at the vivarium (I'll probably get him/her from East Bay Vivarium, where I got my first BP). Not sure about breeding, but it's a possibility! For now, though, I'm just looking to have them as pets. Would you suggest getting a pair rather than a solo leo? If so, I'd want to go with females - right?

Thats great your getting into leos! I suggest getting one from a reptile expo or if thats not possible go for the east bay. About the pair its 10 gallons per leo but 2-3 month old females could fit. You would need to get a 20 gallon to fit two adults in. Yes females are ok,two males with fight. Make sure the leos are about the same size,if your getting a pair. I suggest just get 1. Also i forgot to add you will need a moist hide (sandwhich plastic container) with moss or wet paper towel at the bottom, mist that place everyday. Put the moist hide in the middle.

Gee... there just happens to be a reptile show in San Jose next weekend (8/8-8/9). :w00t: I was planning to go anyway, and now I have an even better reason!

Btw, I've been looking at pictures online, and found a morph I love - the Mack Snow! Any information on those? What would be a good price at a reptile show? Also, is there any advantage to male vs female? I know they're usually incubated to be female, but I don't know if that matters for a keeper.

Well ive never realy looked at them to buy but i suggest bring as much money as you can. Theres realy no advantage. Dosent realy matter. Nice choices!! Be sure to post pics when you get em! Im going to get another female because one of my females died and my male has a prolapse :(. My favorite are raptors, diablo blancos, shtct(super hypo tangerine carrot tail) and jungles. :gj: :gj:
