My trip to the vet for Steve :]
So today, my mom and I went to the vet with Steve (King snake). When we were waiting for the vet, he came in and said, "So where did you get the name Steve?" Of course I got it from Steve Irwin;). Anyway, after telling him all the symptoms I've noticed and what not, he said my snake has a mild respiratory infection. If it didn't get treated, it would have turned into pnemonia (sp?) and he would have died. I'm so glad I went there today. So I got meds for the next 2 weeks (and in this time I cannot feed him, which is a bummer for him he loves to eat :]) and at the exotic animal hospital they showed me how to inject it. So thank you all who have told me info on this problem I had and thanks very much for the person who gave me the vet's number. You saved my King snake's life xD :snake:

I am thrilled to hear Steve was able to get medical treatment. Keep us updated. It sounds like he will pull through.

I really hope so. I didn't even know what morph King snake he was until the vet said he's a Mexican Black King snake. I'll takes some pics of him tomorrow when I bathe him and also give him the meds. I will for sure keep everyone updated on him:gj:

Glad everything went ok, and they were able to identify the problem. Don't worry sounds like he will pull through.

Good job on getting Steve to the vet! I'm proud of you! :gj:
Re: My trip to the vet for Steve :]
Why didn't you opt to do a culture?
How do you know the meds he gave you will be effective against the bacteria causing the infection, or just prolonging it?
Sorry if this sounded mean, a C/S test is the ONLY way to know your going to be giving the right meds, and I'm a big fan of these tests.
