Question about Red Axanthics... are there problems?
I don't really post here much anymore, and I'm not really all that familiar with what's going on in the BP world anymore, though I do lurk now and then :)

Anyway, I was curious about Red Axanthics. I've been looking into getting a couple females, and I think the Het Reds and Red Axanthics and some very nice looking snakes.

My question is: why don't you see more of them? They're a co-dominate morph, and pretty easy to make, plus not all THAT expensive. Are there problems with the Reds? Or in blending the Reds with other morphs?

I just think something like a Red Axanthic Cinnamon would be a killer-looking dark morph.

Just curious... thanks for any and all info!

http://www.ralphdavisreptiles.com/bi...thons_6_08.asp Check it out under clutch #56 the Cinny het red -has- been done and it is indeed a VERY awsome dark morph combo if you ask me I would love a Cinny het red any day:D

The Reds and het reds are out there but it takes a little before a morphs potential comes out, as well people might just be keeping their projects in secret..I'm sure sooner or later they will start comming out of the wood works. Last I heard there wasnt anything wrong with Red Axans or hets

I am currently working with a het red female and she is great, except for a very poor attitude which I have heard is a trait in them, but other than that nothing bad from what I know.

Funny you should mention red axanthic cinnys. We've (hopefully) got a clutch of het red cinnys hatching next week, and as kyote19 says, they are awesome looking. RDR is asking a good penny for them. (I inquired a couple of months ago.)

We've got four het reds, and I haven't experienced or heard anything about bad temperament in reds. The juvy male we have for sale is sweet, and our adult male and females are docile as any typical BP.

I've always assumed that they aren't that plentiful because people just prefer the regular axanthics and fall on that side of the fence. I could be wrong, but in any event, you can't go wrong when het reds are so inexpensive and the combos they make are anything but.

We had a clutch of pastel het red x cinnamon laid a couple weeks ago, unfortunately it was a sluggy clutch and there's only 2 good eggs left. Really hoping to see the pewter het red! We hatched some het reds last year and we have a few adults here and I have not found them to be any different than any other balls as hatchlings or adults.

I personally think they are an awesome morph. I'm working towards caramel het reds and cinny het reds in the future. I think they are very unrated morph like yellow-bellies.
