CBS News and my egg cam
I got this email today. I guess they are going to use my vid in a story. I hope its not negative

    Good Morning-
I am a producer for CBS News. We are doing a short news piece about Pythons and ran a brief video clip of your UStream python baby hatching video (assuming you are "Dave763"). I want to confirm how to best credit the video before distributing- we can run the shot with or without credit- it is up to you. please respond via e-mail call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx asap to let me know.
    Much thanx-
    Eliana

Producer, CBS News/ The Early Show

    My reply

Hi Eliana, yes I am dave763. My name is David Perkins. I am glad you are going to use my video. I do hope this story will view Ball Pythons in a positive light as they make great pets and are not a threat to the environment. To best credit the video would probably be just to put my name and website. thank you very much.

It would be nice if you could make yourself available for an interview or something. :/ Dunno if that is possible though.

I am going to be a stick in the mud just cause I am the paranoid type.

I would first require that I know what story they plan to use it for before I would grant permission.

I can just see them using the pics of the eggs to slander us on the whole captive breeding front: "See here how a hobby breeder flagrantly publicizes eggs he is incubating from python like the one that killed that poor child in FL..."

Remember, they are news agents, it is their job to lie through their teeth to get the story.

I'd have to agree - I would say that they do NOT have permission to use your clip without first telling you what the angle of the story is.

Early in the video clip was a still picture of what looked like a snake and egg, or something like that. Is that from Dave's webcam?

I agree that 100,000 huge snakes freely roaming part of the country is a problem. The backlash that will reach our shy 22" baby is what I don't agree with. :(

Dave, our two girls and I have been watching your hatchlings. It's so great to see! The thought of that used in a negative way makes me
