Help me with my two questions!!!
Ok, so recently one of my female balls was in blue and getting ready to shed. She sat in her water bowl for a long time then got out and it looked like she had shed so I picked her up and she was crawling out of my hand when her skin hooked/rubbed on my ring and came off prematurely. She has burn spots on her underbelly where the skin came off due to it coming off too soon. What is the best thing to treat this, the skin is brown in some spots and a darker color in others and doesn't look very good.
The second question has to deal with mites. I know that there are people out their with their own oppinions what to use to get rid of the nasty little buggers, but what is the best to get rid of them and how do I approach the problem. I know that I wan to get prevent a mite and some jurassimite because I can spray my snakes with jurassimite and I can spray their enclosures with the prevent a mite. Does this sound like a plan? I have had most of my snakes on paper towels and news paper and the little turds have still figured a way to breed. I will have to get the two treatment sprays and clean the cages every couple of days to get rid of them. I have a rack system thing that I have all of my snakes in so I have to disinfect the tubs and how do I go about disinfecting/treating the rack? It has heat tape down the back, do I have to take all of that off and spray that as well?
Sorry bout all the questions, but I want to get rid of these asap!!!:taz:
Re: Help me with my two questions!!!
You need to go to the vet to have them take a look at your bp and give you something to help the burn. Do it as quick as possilbe as burns can get real nasty.
Your mite plan sounds good, just follow the directions on the can of PAM unless you want a dead snake!
About cleaning the rack, unfortunately, I have no idea. Good luck.
Re: Help me with my two questions!!!
I don't think it is an -actual- burn. Sounds like the skin came off and is pink underneath?
How exactly do you rip off shed accidentaly? When did she clear up from the blue phase? They shed 24-48 hours after so I am sure it wasn't really THAT premature :/
PAM is the way to go for mites, just follow the directions on the can. I think (don't quote me on this!) that you can spray the rack with the pam too.

Can you post pics of the belly?

They said it was brown underneath. :( I hope it's not a burn though.

Well, the skin is brown underneath because it appears to be scabbing over, but doesn't completely scab because it rubs off. As I said in the first post which you may have not finished, she was in her water bowl as this may have moistened her skin and her underbelly skin hooked on my ring and began to pull of which I didn't notice until there was about a 6" piece pulled off. Most of the skin area is pink, but there is one strip that is about 3" that is very dark brown/gray color. I was wondering if there was anything that we use, such as neosporin, that I could use on her skin?

Hi,
Well without pictures the best advice we can give is to take her to a good exotics vet. :(
