My new Ball Python...

The place where I got my new Ball Python from was a great place and I noticed no mites on the snake when I first got him. Then after about a week I noticed a few. I got rid of the mites very quickly after finding them on him. I am feeding my snake live mice. So do the mice or rats carry the mites and get on the snake during the feeding process? The reptile store owner said that my ball python has only ate live mice. He said he wouldn't eat frozen mice. I looking for some help from anyone on what to do about mites. I thank you for any help you can give.

It is probable the mites came from the shop in the form of eggs and are just hatching.

What do they look like?

The best treatment you can get is provent-a-mite from pro products as far as I know which you could order online and have shipped to you.

The advantage it has is the fact it lasts for 30 days unlike most others and so can kill them as they hatch.

It is important to follow the directions exactly with all treatments, in particular you do not treat the animal itself but the cage and must remove the waterbowl during the initial spray treatment.

Seach a few topics on here about mites to make sure you do not simply have wood mites from the bedding or whatever. :)
