    Switching to UTH ?'s
I just purchased a UTH for my Bp's tank and a ReptiTemp 500R. I have been using a heat light previously. My ReptiTemp 500R is on order at Amazon so I will wait to set up the UTH until it arrives in the mail. In the meantime I thought I would get a couple ?'s out of the way so I know what I am doing when it arrives;) Oh and I did some previous searching on here for a good thermostat and went off of the best recommendations so thank you everyone! Plus I wanted to make sure I wasn't asking repeat questions someone else might have addressed LOL.

    1. Is his tank still okay if I place it on the wooden table with the UTH and the little foam sticker pad thingies it comes with to raise it up slightly? I hope that makes sense. The warnings on the UTH package kinda freaked me out about the placement.

    2. If I place a sheet of newspaper on the bottom of the tank, then a thin layer of reptibark, would his plastic hides still be okay? They won't melt or anything will they?

Okay I think that is it!

If they're melting, your snake will be fried! The ReptiTemp will keep things just right, though. I got mine from Amazon too. :)

Do you have an AcuRite to guage temp and humidity? The probe goes right on the warm spot, so you'll know exactly what temp it is. I use about 4 sheets of newspaper, plus just enough ReptiBark to cover it. Took me 2 weeks to realize that the inch of ReptiBark gave too much fluctuation in temp on top of it all.

We didn't care much for those tiny nubbles that come with the ZooMed UTH, so dh raised the tank up by an inch or so just with short strips of wood, kinda like the 2x4 type.

Okay I think that is it!

I also have used wood blocks to raise my tanks up a few inches and have never had any problems with UTH's :gj:
