Dog food is forumlated for dogs, not for rats.

You can use a high quality dog food with less than 18% protien provided you suppliment it with a grain mix. Since you said it's only for a week, can't you just get some rodent block from the petstore? It may not be great quality, but chances are it's better than Science Diet. IMO, Science Diet is not fit to feed any species of animal.

If you have pastas, cheerios, fruits/veggies you can give them that stuff. I only use dog food as an additive for pregnant/nursing rats for extra protein.

dog food is fine as long as it doesn't have red dye in it.
i know a couple people that have been breeding rodents for 12 to 15 years and only feed dog food.

If i were you I wouldn't even use Science Diet for my dogs. Nutro is the only way to go!
