    Wire Mesh Size?
What size wire mesh works well for rats to be able to eat food through?

I think the mesh I have is 1/2" and looks too small for them to eat through (They have food in bowls right now in the tank but are BURYING the bowls..)

I use 1/2 hardware cloth for rats and they do just fine :gj:

    AWESOME thanks!

I dunno if this stuff is considered hardware cloth... its metal and pretty hard... kinda like chicken wire, except squares and 1/2"

Here is exactly what I have... is this good or not big enough holes?
They also have a bowl of food in there, which they keep burying... but until I was sure they could eat from the wire mesh, I wanted to make sure they had food in there available.

Try not to feed them dog food unless it's very high quality(wellness senior, etc). It makes them greasy and stink.

Find a nice high quality rodent lab block, such as Mazuri or Harlan. Needs to be 18% protein or less, but not less than 16%.

Ya I am getting mazuri shortly. This was a temporary thing since I had nothing else available ATM.

Thanks for the info though :D
