High humidity in rbi racks
Does any one drill holes in there tubs from rbi racks. It seems like everytime i spill a little water or the snakes spill some. It soaks in the newspaper and my humidity jumps up to 78. Just wondering what everyone else does for this problem.
Re: High humidity in rbi racks
Holes. Lots of holes. I used a soldering gun to make them as they are cleaner holes and the plastic won't crack.
Re: High humidity in rbi racks
like waltah said, more holes. I like to use aspen in my rack so I can spot clean the wet spots without having to clean the whole enclosure. A drill will crack the tub so again like waltah said, use a soldering gun. I melt my holes approx. 1/2" inch apart and it hasnt done me wrong yet.

You should already have at least some holes in the tubs. If the humidity jumps that high, add more holes :P

That is the key. I usually put about 5-8 on each side of mine, then wait a few days to see how things are going and add more if needed. You can get a soldering iron at alot of the dollar stores.

yeah I've noticed that problem as well in my rbi rack and I use aspen as substrate. so I put more holes, seems to be better now.

Funny story - when I got my first rack, similar to a RBI, I had put holes in the tubs. The next morning, Karl got up before me and was making coffee and comes to the bedroom - "Hey - your new rack is steaming".
I shot bolt upright out of bed and came racing into the living room - it was just condensation from high humidity and I had to put more holes in the tubs. Talk about a rude awakening - I thought I had cooked my snakes!
