Using hot glue guns on t-stat probes
Have any of you used a hot glue gun to stick a tstat probe to a UTH? I'm worried that I might damage something. I'll be using a johnson tstat on an ultratherm UTH.

And if you have done this before do you have any tips on how you glued it?

    Thanks,
    Dennis

I wouldn't recommend it, use paper tape

    Hi,

I used foil tape to stick mine down. :)

Only outside of the snakes enclosure though. ;)

Can this tape be found at a CVS or Safeway? Or is it only available at Home Depot like stores?

    Thanks,

A hardware store should have it. I don't think you can get it at CVS. But you could always use duct tape. Make sure the probe is on the OUTSIDE of the enclosure.

I used Hot Glue on my ZooMed UTH and my Zilla probe out side of tank. Works like a champ. If your worried you could use 100% silicon, you will just have to give it a couple hours to dry. Silicon would be very easy to remove if you are not happy. Hot glue requires a hot blow dryer or a heat gun to remove it cleanly.

IMHO tape adhesive used on a heating source will eventually fail.

Walmart should have foil tape too, that's where I got mine I believe.
I've also used hot glue before, but it wasn't on the sensor end of the probe and I used the tiniest of a drop.
