Such a little weirdo...
So tonight was feeding night for my Ball Python, Nero, and although I had some trouble starting him off, he has eaten voraciously since his first meal and tonight was no different. I have him on a 5 day feeding schedule, so tonight I did everything as typical as always, and opened the tank to feed the F/T mouse.
Now here's where it gets weird, some nights, my Ball Python likes to climb on a flexible branch that spans his cage, and he was sitting on top when I went to put in the mouse. Now before I could even place the mouse on the ground, Nero struck and coiled the mouse, while still tightly grasping onto the branch. Very Green Tree Python-esque, He swallowed the mouse, then moved to his warm hide. Who knows, maybe Nero has a little GTP blood in him :D.
So does anyone else have these little quirks about their snakes?

Maybe he does have some GTP blood... hmm, that would be an odd hybrid, a ball x GTP. :8:
Funny story, thanks for sharing!

Re: Such a little weirdo...
Delilah did that once, and I've discovered she has a quicker feeding response with that method... she loves her branch/log so much, I'd swear she was an arboreal snake! BPs are funny, aren't they? :D

I hated it cause she would lung at me when I open the tub and I get nailed were ever the closest spot was that was there ( most thetime my gut /shirt).

One of mine likes to swing, smack, and body slam his F/T's all over the tank before eating. Sometimes I don't know whether to clean the tank or put up "crime scene" tape... :weirdface

thanx.. this made me laugh. I can so vividly picture the entire scenario. I do not have a bp that does that, but my ghost corn, when he was in a tank, would periodically do the "cling to his vine while constricting his mouse and then eat"..weirdo! :weirdface :rolleye2:

One of my het albinos is also a vicious eater. she will most of the time strike the rat and than take it for a dump in the water bowl, by the way this is live food, and drown it. I feel bad for every animal that has to go through simaltaneous constriction and drowning deaths.

Re: Such a little weirdo...
My 1500g female lunged at the rat a couple weeks ago before I could get it in the tub, so she ended up hanging from the tub constricting the rat. She didn't want to drop it so just hung there, so naturally I took a picture and called my friend into the room, and then helped her back into the tub.

Can you remove the water first or would that involve risk to your appendages?
