Thermostat controlling two strips of flexwatt

I have a question, I have a Ranco111000, and two tubs for two balls. There is only one probe for the thermostat, so how do I regulate the two temperatures? They're plugged into the same strip, but they show two different readings.

I'm using belly heat, btw.

The only way it will control both is if the tubs share the same conditions (ie a rack situation). The only tstats that I know of that have more than one probe and can control different heating elements at different temps are the Herpstat II and Pro.

But, you could get a lamp dimmer (Lutron 300W at Lowes comes to mind) and plug one strip into it then that into the tstat. That way, you dial in the correct temp for the other flexwatt, and then can fine tune the second strip.

Well what most people do is tape the probe from the thermostat to the directly to the flexwatt with aluminum tape. Then have a separate termometer, like an accurite or a temp gun to read the temps inside the tubs. Then raise the temp in the thermostat untill you find a confortable range.

Ok, thanks. I'll try this. I was using a tempgun to determine the temps, and the surface area was a lot higher than I'd like it to be. I'll tape the probe in and monitor it tonight and hopefully get it worked out.

I set up my thermostat to 98-99, and deppending on how cold the A/C is running at nite (usualy 76) or how hot it is during the day (usualy the A/C runs at 78-79 during the day) the temp readings from the accurite are 91-94 inside the hide in the warm side. :snake:

Is that surface temps? I'm doing surface temp of the aspen, then moving it and making sure if the snake gets under the aspen it won't get burned. This is w/ a tempgun.

Yes, surface temps. Hope you worked out everything already :)

Theres gonna be a little variation in the tempatures, unless you have exactly the same settings in both tubs which is impossible, There are alot of variables that can change your temp but it should be fine as long as it stays in the 90-94 range.

rack system :P just build a small one. it will give you very simliar conditions at the least.

I second the rack idea, its a really great setup and very easy to maintain. I will never house a snack any other way.:D
