How long would you leave your baby?
I was cleaning my ball python's cage yesterday and randomly had the thought, "How long is it ok to leave my snake alone?" I don't really have a trip planned anytime soon but I'm sure I'll be out of town for a weekend or two sometime in the near future. Right now she is a baby and I'm brand new to reptiles so it's hard for me to even go to work for the day without freakin out.
I just wanted to hear from you all...What's the longest you would consider leaving your snake unattended? (This does not include leaving him/her with a friend and going to Spain for a month...)
Re: How long would you leave your baby?
I have a care group in place for when I leave town for work, I raise feeders also
Re: How long would you leave your baby?
the most so far i left my snake was 3 days, if i had a thermostat not a rhesostat the most a week.
Re: How long would you leave your baby?
I have left my adult BP for about two weeks before during winter when he was in burmation, but when he is active I do not leave him alone for more than a few days at a time. A baby, I do not think I would leavve alone unless I had someone that could check on him at least once a day.
Re: How long would you leave your baby?
Just as an FYI - ball pythons don't brumate. :)
However, I have left my collection for an entire week. Their tubs get a little messy, but I just have a marathon cleaning day when I get back.

I think the most I left my bp alone was two weeks, luckily he didn't poop and I had my brother change his water when I was gone!
Re: How long would you leave your baby?
Yea I think I'm gonna discover the beauty of roommates when the time comes to go out of town :D
Re: How long would you leave your baby?
The longest so far has been a weekend. But I will be leaving them for a week and have no fears that they will be fine while I'm gone. That's one of the things that is so great about snakes. You don't have to worry about boarding them while your gone. wish I could say the same for our dogs.
