In closet?
ok so im building a rack and want to know if i can stick it in my closet? with the door closed? or is it a bad idea?

Re: In closet?
Well, first of all, why would you want to keep them in the closet?
Second of all, I am sure if you open the doors for ventilation it would be fine.

Re: In closet?
In a closet is fine, but you might leave the door open so the rack can breathe a bit. People choose to put racks in unused closet space as they tend to fit well and be out of the way. It doesn't mean you can't see them and enjoy them, just makes for less space issues.

Re: In closet?
As long as you have ventilation, and are not risking a fire hazard... then it is a fine place to have them. :)
I would keep the doors open, or take them off, you want ventilation and a day-night cycle for the snakes.

Re: In closet?
yeah i guess i can take a door off or keep it open, its just its right in fron of the window and my mom doesnt want neighbors lookijng in.

Re: In closet?
I'd try taking of the door. Maybe hanging a beaded or bamboo curtain will prevent nosey neighbors. I wouldn't suggest fabric, because of the fire hazard. :)

Re: In closet?
I don't want to hijack your thread, but it seems silly to open another for the same type of question.
Can I keep one under my bed? I know it's not a good idea to hide a snake from someone in the house, but my stepfather will not move on the idea and my mom says it's okay as long as she never gets blamed if he finds out. Which he won't; as my stepfather as a rule never EVER goes in my room.
I have a 30 qt container that fits under my bed no problem, and have a solid plan for getting food in without being noticed, etc. So the snake going without a home or getting kicked out is not an issue.
If the snake needs a day/night cycle, can I just put something like an LED light that creates no heat or fire hazard under there too?
If so, could I also reverse the day/night cycle, so he is most active during the day? It would be dark under the bed unless the light was on, so I could put the light on at night for his "day" if it's not a bad idea.
Thanks in advance!

Re: In closet?
You can put your snake anywhere. We have our snakes in our closet with the door shut on light timers and thermostats. We have basically turned our closet into artificial day/night.
