Tight Budget Hatchling Rack
Well I needed something fast so I threw this together. I works well with no escape points I just put an UTH inside an old bookcase on the back wall for a heat source. It'll work for a couple months until they need to transfer to a larger enclosure.

Re: Tight Budget Hatchling Rack
That looks like escaped snakes waiting to happen.
Re: Tight Budget Hatchling Rack
i tried using that before and a snake can weasle out. you ay have a different type. but expect mia young ones soon.. they can get out the sides.
Re: Tight Budget Hatchling Rack
They can also get out of the front. See those big gaps in between the drawers? You are better off using 3 tubs and stacking them over using that thing.
Re: Tight Budget Hatchling Rack
hatching ball pythons only need about a hair under .5" gap and the rest of their body will follow suit.
I build a hatchling rack and cost me only $73 minus the tubs or heat. And that to me is cheap. I would never consider using storage bins for my snakes.
Re: Tight Budget Hatchling Rack
Besides the top having that small gap, did you drill/solder any air holes?
Re: Tight Budget Hatchling Rack
You don't need air holes, there's plenty of air flow. It really SEEMS like a great idea, but honestly, having used some of those for other things, it's not secure enough for ball pythons. I think you should get them into some secure tubs before they get out.
Some other folks have posted the drawers before, and usually it's mentioned that the gaps are too large. Especially inside when it's closed, along the rear section, the bin just doesn't slide in tight enough, as it's not supposed to be really snug and tight fitting.
