Why do lower shelves of racks run at lower temps???
I am having trouble equalizing the temps in my rack - it is a 5 shelf 41q rack.
The difference from my lowest shelf to my top shelf is about 6-7 degrees!!
I have run every test I can think of and i have concluded that the problem lies not with the equipment. I'm using 11" flexwatt with a herpstat and they all run at very similar temps when I place them on the same shelf???
I have my probe on the middle shelf between the flexwatt and shelf.
How do i get more equall temps in my rack?? This is strange...
Thanks
Chad

mookfu hit that one outta the park.
If you absolutely cannot get your top and bottom shelf temps close, you might want to investigate separating the top half of shelves on one thermostat and the bottom half controlled at a higher temperature on another thermostat.
A difference of 6-7 degrees seems like a lot though!
Hope this helps!

As Chris and Mitch mentioned, heat rises. I suggest as a cheap but effective fix is set the top half on a dimmer switch and set it a few degrees lower. That'll stabalize the temperatures to only a 1-2 degree difference.

Try insulating under the bottom shelf if possible.
