Feeding Options for 3 1/4 ft BP
:snake:Hi everyone, I'm running into availability problems with rodents for my BP. I just measured him the other day and he's 3 1/4 ft long, and fairly thick. However, the local pet store (and only option available to me) seems to never have the right size of rat for me. They usually have sub-adult mice, a few adult rats, crawler rats and pinkies. Right now im going with the crawlers but feel its not giving him enough to eat. Could my BP handle an adult rat? or should I try maybe two crawlers? Heres a recent picture incase it helps to size him up for something good to eat.

Keep in mind just cause a ball python can take a large rat dont mean then need it. Its just wasted food.
Adult ball pythons dont need anything more that 60-80grams per feeding which is a small rat or 2 wean rats.

How much does your snake weigh? He should be eating 10-15% of his body weight, and usually 2 smaller rats are better than 1 big one. I have big girls 2200+ grams & the largest rat I'll give them is 120g

Sadly the only scale I got is an electronic bathroom scale. Tho I'm guessing the general concensus is two of the rats I'm feeding him how.
