How to weigh a wiggly snake?
I was trying to get a weight on Mona the other day, and she just wouldn't sit still! She's a very active and large gal, who doesn't ever ball up in your hands... I guess that's a good thing, except when I'm trying to weigh her. Anyone have suggestions on how to get it done? I was thinking of using a sealed container, but not sure that will work either.
Here's her reaction to the scale... and this was after trying 3 other containers/bowls.

Pillow case.. :D
Just remember to zero the scale with the case on it other wise you'll get a false reading

Ahhhh... good idea! :gj: I still have the bag she arrived in, so maybe I'll try that next time. Thanks!

GREAT idea! I was wondering the same thing. I have several balls who are so confident and friendly, they never ball up.

That's a terribly underweight, starving snake! ;):D
Is your scale big enough for a grocery store paper bag? They're so tall and sturdy. Anyway, our bags weigh around 46g. (But sometimes a paper plate with a slight rim is all we need for our unmoving wee one.) Could you plop a bag on, zero the scale, then put Wiggly in there long enough to get a reading?

A covered tupperware type container would work too.

I'm not sure it's big enough for a grocery bag, but I'll try!

With a wiggly scale, duh!?
Re: How to weigh a wiggly snake?
Ed's (Freakie frog) suggestion to use a snake bag is exactly what I do. A number of our snakes are too wiggly or explorative to stay still long enough for a good weight reading so I keep a selection of different snake bags or pillowcases handy for weighing in day. Like Ed said, just make sure you tare your scale with the empty bag on it first so you get a true reading of the snake's weight not including the bag.
