I just got this little boy and it looks like his hemipenes have opened and have large scabs on them. I have him soaking and hoping that may help but it seems painful to him to even touch it. Has this happened to any one else?? Or possibly know what's up with him? Sorry the picture is a bit fuzzy it's from the husbands phone which takes horrible pictures.

    Need a better pic.

You might also try posting it here: www.geckoforums.net.

Is that calcisand he's on? It looks like he's gotten sand in his hemipenal sheathes.

Put him on paper, try to gently push the sand out, sort of like popping a pimple but don't squeeze too hard, and see how he is tomorrow. If the swelling is down, you're on the right track, if it's not, then off to the vet.

I'd also say again to ask the folks over at geckoforums. No doubt someone there has seen this before and knows just what to do. That site is much like this one in the degree of expertise and willingness to help that is everpresent.

My wife, for some unknown reason, put him on the calcisand when we got home. I will get her to empty it out and put him on a paper towel for the mean time. I don't think there is sand in it because at the moment of the pic he had been standing in his water bowl then went and ate a few meal worms so the sand was on his feet and stuff.

I registered on the forums but it is awaiting approval before I can post.

It looks like the sacs have physically broke open, or at least it does to me. I think she may take him to the vet this morning before she goes into work at the store she got him at.

The looks really bad actually. I've had geckos evert for weeks at a time, and soaking does help, but what you have is a lot worse. You should definitely get him checked out asap.

We took him to the vet this morning and he had some absesses around his hemipenes. The vet removed the absesses and he has to let it heal on it's own. It looks much better now and I am glad we took him.

Me too. He is all cleared up and is now healing. He is on paper towels for 2 weeks and if it isn't healed we are to bring him back to the vet.
