Is my meal worm breeding going ok?
I brought 150 of them on sat and fed about 25 of them off already. I sifted through the oats and i found a couple exo skeletons in it. Is that a dead mealworm are... what's going on? how do you breed your meal worms and what should i be looking out for?
Re: Is my meal worm breeding going ok?
Get a plastic cage or glass tank cover bottom in oatmeal (uncooked) add mealies, slice up a potato or apple, orange etc. and place a few pieces in the enclosure for moisture. Cover with lid, change out moisture source 3 times a week. The mealies will develop into beetles & produce more mealies.

I use the small 3 drawer sterilites. 2 inches of cornmeal for the substrate. Mealworms turn to Pupae, Pupae turn to Beetles. Beetles lay eggs. Eggs hatch and you get new mealworms. The process can take a couple months depending on how big the mealworms were when you bought them. I would start off with a large quantity if you want production and don't feed them off. Good luck!
