Animal Plastics cages - cable or flexwatt heat?
Planning the options on an animal plastics cage.

Do I go with the cable belly heat or flexwatt belly heat?

depending on the cage size id say neither. go with RHP from reptilebasics.com

Hard to use flexwatt on wooden/plastic cages.

That depends on your ambient air temperature. If your room temp is fairly warm, then I would go with flexwatt belly heat. If your room temp is fairly cold, then I would go with an RHP. I have one from Reptile Basics, and really like it.

What model rack and for what species?

If it's for ball pythons I personally really like the dual side radiant heat. All my racks I purchase in the future will be this option after trying one last year. My other racks are heat cable and belly heat and I don't care for them much compared to the dual side radiant heat.

I should have stated, this is for a coastal carpet python.

Reptile basics largest cage is 4x2x12''

At the very least I want a 4x2x15''(enough cieling room for a climbing ledge), probably a 4x2x2.

Contact Mark from boamaster.com. He is now making PVC cages the same way as his wooden ones. Their light and he makes them to the size you want.

    Very good prices.

I would definitely go for a radiant heat panel then for a semi-arboreal snake.

    Denial
Re: Animal Plastics cages - cable or flexwatt heat?
the heat cable sucks. Ive had it in there 6 foot cages and I have it in one of there racks now and I hate it. Flexwatt is much easier to control for me. Radiant heat panels work well also

so with a radiant heat panel does it allow the snake to have a cool spot?
