    Pre ovulation shed?
I've read through books, searched on the internet, searched through forums and whenever the question is asked of a pre-ovulation shed, most of the answers refer to the pre-lay shed.

Is there a PRE-OVULATION shed? And being as pre means before.. I would assume that this shed is supposed to occur before ovulation, yet everyone answers for the pre-lay shed. :weirdface  This really does confuse me a lot.

I also was reading on the Markus Jayne site under breeding and i read this and really got confused..

    Pre-lay Shed

Shortly after ovulation, most females go into a pre-ovulation shed cycle. They usually shed 16 days after. From this date my females usually lay 27 days later...give or take a few days. The pre-lay shed is the best date from which to start your countdown!
here they say that after ovulation there is a pre-ovulation shed cycle  somebody please clarify this for me. thanx.

I think that was an error on the Markus Jayne website. It confused the heck outta me too. It is my understanding that there is a pre ov shed, and then a pre lay shed.

The post ovualtion shed happens after ovulation. There is also a shed before ovulation too. Hope this helps.

thanx... I am aware there is a pre ovulation shed.. but when before ovulation does it occur? nobody seems to touch on that subject, they just go for the post ovi shed. for someone that is breeding for the first time, all the signs are key points.. to know what to expect/look for first time around and for future breeding seasons.

My cinny girl has been locking with my pastel male. They have been locking since the beginning of April. Now she is having a shed. is this her pre-ovi shed? how soon afterward is she going to ovi (if at all). thanx.

I posted a thread about our girl when I was confused about the pre/post ovi shed. This girl looked like she ovulated while in blue but it was building (thanks freakie frog). After she shed we paired her with a male again and they locked, so it wasn't ovulation, that was her pre-ovulation shed. Now she is in blue again and I can definitely feel large marshmallows when I palpated her the other day (4 or 5). As far as a time line, it depends on the female. She had her pre-ovulation shed on 6/20 and, like I mentioned, she is in blue again (but we haven't noticed an ovulation yet). lol, its enough to drive you crazy! Keep pairing them as long as they are in good condition and you notice a definite ovulation.

Possibly. It might still be a while before she actually ovulates though. Is she still eating? Laying funny? You will definitely notice signs if you check on her often. Our girl stopped eating a few weeks before we noticed the building but after the building swelling went down she was still receptive to the male but still wont eat. So I'm actually thinking THIS shed is her pre-ovy shed. So that means she will have shed once, then 3 weeks later, shed again. Hopefully She will ovulate soon and I can give you a time line between this shed and her ovulation.

    lol hope this helps!:rolleye2:

yes she is still eating and is still receptive to the male.. although I haven't seen a lock in a while, at least since june 25. then she was in blue and she shed on monday. so now we'll see what is happening.
