thermometer placement

ok ive been haveing trouble with the probe say only 82, heres a pic of my layout that a drew

the red are probes beside the water bowl,
where it is blue that where it seems to be hot, and the probes are outside the hide, is there a way i can tell the temps better, and a way to put the probe inside the hide without the snake moving it?

Let's see as far as getting the probe in the hide, i use newspaper as my substrate so i just thread the probe under the newspaper and right inside the hide through a hole i cut in the newspaper in the appropriate spot, this can work with any substrate all you have to do is bury the wire and bring it out right under your hide. also i place the probe along one of the wall of the hide so as to not be disturbed by your snake. hope this helps

how do you keep from moving?

I hot glued my probes to the BOTTOM (hehe, couldn't resist) of both sides of my tank. I just used a tiny drop as to not cover them up, especially on the probe end. Of course they will have to be removed during cleaning, but I used little enough hot glue to just pop them off without damaging them.

Um, it might be a couple days. My monthly cleaning is coming up, so I can snap some pics then.

Do you have AC running cooler say at nite for example? my cool side temp goes from almost 82 day time to 78+ during nite time, because of the AC running colder.

The accurite has a little tab on the front of the sensor so when it pops through the newspaper you sandwich the tab under the edge of the hide along one wall this will keep it from going anywhere. my snake isnt too interested in the probe so it hasnt been a problem

Two things: Pardon my crappy pics, they were all I could get. And yes, I am aware of a phallic image in one of the pictures. It wasn't intended.

The first pic is the placement of the thermometer probes. The two are circled in white. The uncircled probe is in between the UTH and the glass, since it's the thermostat probe. The white rectangles are the approximate locations of the hides.

The second pic is how I hotglued them to the bottom. The white is the outline of the probe, the pink is the location of the dot of glue. Do not use too much glue or you won't be able to remove the probe and could damage it. Trust me, only a drop. Also, do not put the glue on the probe, put it on the thicker part of the body.
I cleaned my tank today, and they were super easy to get off. But they won't be moved by the snake.
