Question about my ball python's tail
My young ball python, approximately two and a half months old, completed her shed yesterday. She shed in two solid pieces. The only skin that remained was a small piece at the end of her tail. Tonight I used a wet washcloth and gently removed the dead skin. My ball python was a trooper.......she never once resisted! After removing the dead skin I observed a small pinkish/reddish spot at the very tip of her tail. Is this normal? If so I've never noticed it before.

Maybe a little bit of tenderness/irritation left over from the shed. Keep an eye on it over the next couple days. I assume it will go back to normal. But at this point, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I believe my bp's last bit of tail is also a different color. I don't think it's pink or red, but it's almost like a translucent tan-ish.

When I first saw it I thought it was the color of the light brownish part of her body (she is a normal) but it was not. I really wish it was. If it is tenderness you think some neosporin or lotion would hurt or should I just wait and see? I am kind of leary of putting that kind of stuff on a reptile.

I don't think it's really necessary for something that small. Just make sure she is acting normal over the next couple days. If she seems restless or something, it might be time to look into some kind of treatment options.
It's a good thing bp's are so hardy.

After thinking about that the tip of her tail very well could be that translucent tanish color as well. I will wait it out and watch over the next week. I just hope I did not cause her any discomfort or more harm than good!!

It's better to be paranoid than let it slide sometimes.
